Question about validation of forms: <https://community.stackerhq.com/t/invalid-input-prompt/526>. From what I understand, this isn't possible to do in Stacker by itself but do any of your JS wizards have a solution?

&gt; _I have an app which requires the user to key in a proposed price, and any amount which they enter outside of a certain range will show “Invalid input: Price outside of range.” Is there any way to do this with Stacker? By the way our database is linked to Airtable._

I mean, you could theoretically run a piece of JS that looks for event_revenue and substitutes text, but that might get resource-intensive pretty quickly if done for many things.

<@U04CE7RV8BS> I just have a low tier Zapier plan that I use for Stacker Triggers. I then have that data being sent to airtable/google Sheets/Salesforce, where my <http://Make.com|Make.com> trigger is to complete the automation. I use roughly 100k tasks a month, 10k in Zapier and 90k in Make. Saves me a ton of money.

i usually find it a database schema issue - a field has changed it strucutre/drop down option etc and you need to re-sync…

<@U03AURYT5KM> Currently we manage comments and activity in two ways:
1. Internal to our team: Directly in Airtable comments
2. External with Stacker users: Intercom support (we're on a free non-profit plan)
So unfortunately no direct workarounds, just substitute services.

Using a professional service desk tool like Intercom has been great though. I also like Helpscout which is much more affordable.

<@U03G3BA8ZE3> -- do you know how to filter who shows up in the @ mention suggestions? We have users working at different companies, so I would only want contacts to pop up related to their company, or furthermore, a specific project. Is that possible to filter the @ mention handles?

This is referring to displaying the contents in a table view. You can theoretically have unlimited records in a table, they just can’t all be displayed at once. Searching, however, will return all results from the table.

Is this limitation related to Stacker Tables, Admin data source preview, and/or to the customer-facing List view layout?

Wondering if it only affects Admins, or customers, too.
There is a pagination system with List views, so I’d assume this limitation only applies to the Admin side.

The limitation is of the list view-layout—it is not a limitation of Stacker Tables. We only load 1000 records at a time, that are then paginated.

We do this for performance reasons, and because we don’t expect anyone to reasonably scroll through dozens of pages without searching for something specific, or using filters.

If you use any filters, we will fetch all the records that match that filter, up to a 1000.

We also show only 1000 records in the admin data grid (data source preview) for same reasons.

It sounds like you need to create linked fields to
• Connect your projects to clients via a field ("Project Link")
• Connect the other pages you need to clients
Then create versions of the pages the client views that are filtered by "is current users Project Link"

Sorry. :( A lot of our CSS is generated on-the-fly, so the only thing we can support is outlined in the article Luke linked above, as those are stable. I do hope we’ll be able to expand that list in the future, but we have a lot of other stuff on our todolist, so this is just a wishlist item for now.

What do you need the users to do? Just upload? If so then try Box

They'll need to upload and access the files from the portal.

Ah, Box is great for allowing users to upload without an account via a form, but access to files without logging in (and without making them public) would be trickier.

Sometimes we automate folder creation in Google Drive then automatically share that folder with the user email so they get access to all included documents. Can be useful for internal organization too.

Admittedly, sometimes the users struggle with the permissions. Especially, if they don't usually use Google Drive with that email account.

You can’t upload data directly to Stacker (unless using Stacker tables)

So you’d need to import it through Airtable.
How many records are you talking about?
Create ops? Update ops?

From your description, it sounds like you have a bunch of Excel sheets lying around and you’d like to import them into Airtable, potentially automatically, and/or at a regular basis.

Tools like Make/Zapier might help to do that.

Not AFAIK but I’ve never really used them.

Could you export it to a .csv? You can upload a .csv directly to Stacker.

Or I think you can even just copy and paste a spreadsheet in.

I wasn’t totally clear - we need our clients to do this.  So we would need to do it, or trigger it from the front end of the site…

You can upload to Stacker tables via import from CSV or pasting from a spreadsheet. Sounds like your workflow may be different though? If customers have their own spreadsheet data, have you considered using GoogleSheets instead of Excel and then syncing GoogleSheets to Stacker?

We have a number of Make automations that ingest partner data sent to us via CSV.

Basically, we have a SFTP server from Couchdrop and when a partner uploads a file it fires a webhook to Make. We then retrieve the file in Make and read each row of the .CSV and send updates to Airtable.

You could also watch a Google Drive folder or something instead of have a SFTP.

Excel files might make this a little more complicated than CSV.

We currently embed:
• iframes (3rd party tools, for visualisation/action, depends)
• video

We currently embed Google Docs and video.

Video, Images, Charts (iframes), Docs (PDFs and such)

Would it be too much to ask for the team to put together a little FAQ about Quick Apps vs Stacker 2.0? It just seems like new features are being pushed to Quick-Apps so if I have to move over to Google Sheets to benefit I definitely will!

Check to make sure those tables and fields are both enabled in stacker. Stacker disables them by default

Can't you just have an action button that checks a "favorites" checkbox when clicked?  Then have a view that is just those checked records

The only way I can think of is janky. You'd need a separate table that links the record with the user. It'd be a little awkward in terms of UI but doable

For the people who bump into this in the future: If i remember correctly this happens when you DONT have the 'Allow linking to multiple records' toggle switched on. Turn it on - and you'll see the records there.

Hi <@U043DBHEBT2>, you are correct it is not possible at the moment to search by date.  If the date was in a text field, rather than a date field, you may be able to search that way, but also interested if others have found another workaround!

It really depends what you want to achieve, there is no such thing as “proper CSS”

Sorry I mean the proper code (to cut and paste from) to have your stacker app match the branding and style of an existing website.

What Joel might be asking for, is more clarity on the CSS naming conventions in order to more easily target elements to style?

Yes - if we come across a web aesthetic that we want to apply to a stacker app, are there any tutorials/documentation about how we would do that in the context of which elements stacker supports? Sorry if this is obvious, we are trying the DIY approach to see if Stacker can be managed 100% without a webdev.

But if you are asking how CSS works as a programming language, that might be a little outside what anyone here can help with

I've done it with Airtable, Make and Docusign. There might be easier ways, but:
• Tick a box in Stacker labelled something like 'request contract'
• This ticks a box in a field in Airtable
• An automation on Make looks out for this field to be changed. It runs every 5 mins. The automation links Airtable to Docusign. When it noticed it's changed, it looks up other fields in the record and passed them to Docusign and the contract is issued for signing. It then also send a Slack message to say the contract has been issued.

no idea, I ended up ages ago using make rather than zapier. zapier may or may not be able to do this, not sure!

We use <http://esignatures.io|esignatures.io> get a contract embed URL we save in Air table and display that as embed/ iframe. Pretty similar automation flows in Make as Andrew mentions. I just prefer the simplicity of the <http://esignatures.io|esignatures.io> API.

<@U01EQNL5ZE2> are the contracts being signed uploaded by your users, or are they coming from your system? I'm going to look into this myself, but essentially one user needs to upload their contract and sign, and then the second user needs to sign. the only part I'm not sure will be possible (fingers crossed) is for User 1 to upload and define where the signature fields are in the original contract doc

<@U018VMP4GB1> For us it's the same agreement for everyone with a few variables that change. So we collect the data in Stacker from the user, automate creating the agreement in esignatures by using a template and values for each necessary variable, and store the URL to view/sign in Airtable. Then use that to display as the embed.

Esignatures does enable multi-person agreements. You can indicate who most sign first and second. We typically use this when we need our organization to counter sign. So we generate the agreement, have the user sign it, and then we usually automatically sign our side. You can also have it send an email to the second person to sign.

If your agreements are substantively different from user to user your process would need to be a little different. Esignatures might not be the best solution if you're not using any sort of template agreement.

We really need this too.  In all drop down lists (in line filters &amp; create forms) There are a few different requests in the feature request board about this is different guises - I’m wondering if they could be complied into one request?  <@U02N890SW84> 

Thanks for flagging <@U01EJE7ESCB>! I have the same issue with the comment functionality, that it seems the @ mentions pull up all users (we would definitely not want to surface our entire userbase)

Because our app is split into defined ‘projects’ that are separate from each other we cannot launch until we get a fix for this.  So I’m wondering if it’s feasible and we just need to wait, or if it’s not going to happen if the foreseeable, in which case we’ll have to try another avenue. 

thanks Jane. same for me. We have multiple clients and each of those clients works with individual contractors. Right now all clients can see and connect with all other clients and all other contractors. definitely need a fix too

You can do this with permission filters, just not view filters 

In general view filters shouldn't be used as a firewall between data. It just "hides" it whereas permission filters actually separate the data

Hi Mike, we’ve used permissions to protect data from different users. But I don’t think you can stop in-line filter options or drop downs showing all the records related to a user, even if not related to the record (project / brand) you’re in?
It makes project based apps very tricky and prone to error.

Are you using ownership filters? If so, then it will not show in in-line filters

I have an app with different clients all using it. Since it is via an ownership filter, there is 0 way one client can see any data related to the other. 

It sounds like you might be using a regular view filter, which is not recommended in your circumstance since the data is just hidden rather than truly excluded

Our situation is several projects per client, so the different items within each project can be seen in all their projects drop downs.  

That's fine. That's pretty much what I have. A client in my case owns a "venue" but some clients own multiple "venues". The inline filter and drop-down only shows info that they are permissioned in to see

So in your case your ownership filter would be "only allow access if the project matches the user project permission field"

So if you have project 1,2,3,4,5 and user X is only permissioned to see projects 1 and 3, then that's all they'll see in a drop-down (or anywhere in the app for that matter)

Our users have access to all their projects.  Say each of their projects has items assigned to that project through related records.  So project 1 has items A,B,C.  Project 2 has items D,E,F when you come to filter your table or add a new item, items A-F can all be seen. 

You'll need a lookup field in the client table in Airtable that is something like "Items (from Projects". Then your ownership filter on items should be "if users Items (from Project) matches the Item” or something 

You might even be able to do “if users project matches items project” to make it simpler. Not sure 

I’m encouraged that you think there’s a way to do this.  I feel like I’ve tried every combination.  I suspect that because the ‘users projects’ are multiple, it will bring through items for all the projects still.  But I’ll give it another try tomorrow.  Thanks for your input :)

and the inline filter shows values for all brands. not just the brand logged in and linked in the ownership filter

You are impersonating a specific user in that second screenshot?

I’d hit up stacker support then. It shouldn’t and it’s likely just a mismatched setting in the ownership filter. They’ll be able to get it tracked down for you

okay gotcha! do you have any views set up that are properly filtering the inline filter based on the ownership settings?

Yeah it’s a core feature of my app. If it didn’t then sensitivity data would be shared between clients which would be a major issue ha

are you using comments at all? I'm having the same issue where I'm seeing all users and can @ mention everyone, vs. just the ones that should be tied to the ownership view

That is a known bug. Unfortunately the @ feature doesn’t respect ownership filters as far as I know. I brought it up to them probably 6 months ago and thus far no fix

ah. okay, good to know. that seems like sort of a blocker to using that feature. So yes, having the same issue wtih inline filter, but thanks for letting me know it's at least working for you. Will reach out to them to hopefully get a resolution!

Yeah I’m betting it’s just some faulty permissions logic. The Stacker UI is confusing with that and easy to make mistakes but their team is pretty good at helping out

Great question <@U01QZ40HRFW>. We’re still in the phase of exploring all of the changes that Airtable recently announced, so we’re not ready to make any commitments yet.

For now we will continue using the API keys. When he have a clear line of where we’re taking Airtable connector next, we’ll let be sure to make an announcement
