Hi, is
canonical-rails
still a dependency of Solidus? I’m trying to upgrade my application from Rails 7.1.3 to Rails 8.1 (and Solidus v4.7), but Bundler cannot resolve dependencies because
canonical-rails
0.2.17 depends on
actionview < 8.1
. Is there a recommended upgrade path for Solidus applications targeting Rails 8.1, or is support for a newer version of
canonical-rails
planned?

Only the legacy solidus_frontend is still depending on canonical-rails. You could import it (copy all of the gems content) into your project and remove the canonical-rails dependency. Sounds scary, but is actually the same code you are running today anyway. The gem is unmaintained. On the long term we recommend to move to the solidus_starter_frontend (which we just moved into the main solidus repo as the new solidus_storefront But this is much more involved.

I'm not on production right now (I'm preparing to start my online store), so I think the best option will be start again with solidus_starter_frontend. Is that correct?

Yes, I would not use the legacy frontend with a new store
