Thanks for tagging me @Javin. I'll look through relevant sources and get back to you shortly.
### Answer Based on the available sources, backchannel settings are configured through the agent configuration API [(1) ]() [(2) ]() and through the dashboard's global settings [(3) ]() . The
enable_backchannel
parameter controls whether the agent would backchannel (agent interjects the speaker with phrases like "yeah", "uh-huh" to signify interest and engagement) [(1) ]() [(2) ]() . To enable backchanneling in your dashboard: 1. Log in to your Retell AI dashboard [(4) ]() 2. Navigate to Global Settings on the left panel 3. Click on Speech Settings to open the configuration options 4. Locate the option labeled Enable Backchanneling 5. Click on the toggle switch to turn on Backchanneling If the Enable Backchanneling option doesn't appear in one of your workspaces, this could indicate a difference in account configurations or feature availability between workspaces. The sources don't explain why this option might be missing in specific workspaces. I recommend reaching out to Retell AI support for assistance with workspace-specific feature availability: Check out these potentially useful sources: [What is Backchanneling?
