    I have been seeing a lot of companies using Ruby lately. Is Ruby growing back or was it always the case?

    Hey folks. Any recommendations for remote pair programming tools? What are you guys using? Looking for something that is cross platform. I have looked at Tuple (mac only) and think that Team Viewer or even a normal Slack / Zoom based screenshare might work quite well. Wanted to explore what else is out there.

    Can anyone suggest good wireless earphones/earbuds with mic (don't have a large budget 3-4k)? I recently tried Noise Shots Neo but Noise cancellation is really bad (I could hear fan noise). I want ones that are good for calls.

    Do you know what are travel quarantine rules for interstate travel ? Esp. from a person who travelled recently. Internet is full of confusing/outdated info. My brother needs to travel from B’lore to Pune, Pune to Mumbai and then Mumbai to B’lore. Couple of days each location. And First half is personal and second half is non-profit official work.

    Has anyone moved from Wordpress to Jekyll? Did you use a tool to export the posts? I have so far tried the WP Plugin which gives you a dump of all your stuff - but the images are linked to the Jetpack based WP.com CDN and posts contain a whole bunch of HTML which looks like a sizeable amount of time to clean up. Was wondering if there are other better alternatives out there. Thanks.

    Any JavaScript folks here? I'm a bit confused about finding the time complexity of the below function.
    Copy code
    function containCommonItems(firstArray, secondArray) {
            return firstArray.some(item => secondArray.includes(item))
        }
    I'm not exactly sure what happens inside the include method. So I'm assuming It's a loop, and the time complexity of the above function is O(n * m). But I have heard some other guys saying it O(n+m). Could someone clarify this.?

    Hey folks - so I have a user who is having some trouble accessing our website. There are services which you send your user to and it analyses his system and sends you a report (what’s on his machine) for trouble shooting. Anybody knows of a service like this? (I have been that user once but I did not remember to save the URL).

    Hello friends, I'm from India, Currently working as a React Developer in a startup since past 1 year, this was my first job I started working from Nov 2019 (before lockdown) but just after 3 months in March end due to lockdown I'm working from home, so it's basically 9 months I'm doing remote work for the company. But if I will be working remote but there are lot of questions in my mind regarding same do reply you have any idea about these: While I was searching for remote job in sites like remoteok, many company mentions salary as per there country's market like 50K to 70K euro per year, do they really pay in between these amount or they adjust as per the candidate from which country they are applying from? What about the time zones? Does it depend on company to company at what time I'll be working on? Any thing else I should keep in mind if I'm applying for remote job in different country as per you? Thanks!

    Hi folks, Hope you are safe an doing well, Can you suggest a payment transfer service which transfer money from USA to India, It's bit expensive for the person in US to transfer money to Indian bank directly from US bank. I think PayPal takes 10% charges of total amount and 68 rupees as conversion per dollar. Also searched a bit on google. I have found many services like transferwise etc., but not sure that those are trustworthy or not. Can anyone suggest some better options regarding this? Thanks.

    Hey everyone, one of my clients has run into a dispute with another contractor in India. The software work delivered was poor and their brand and reputation has taken a huge hit. He'd like to initiate legal action but the contract's jurisdiction is overseas. The client would like to explore possibilities and would like to connect with someone who can provide professional legal aid to claim refund against damages. Anyone here who might be able to help?

    Hi channel, wanted to highlight an issue that seems to be prevalent amongst companies during the interview process: I introduced a friend to this group about a month ago, she's a full-stack developer with over 3 years experience. After she had introduced herself in the #intro thread, couple of people reached out to her asking if she was interested to work at their organization. One of those companies was uprise.co (and I can't seem to recall the other one). At uprise.co, essentially she experienced as what can only be described as an extremely biased and unfair, dirty, unethical hiring practice. To provide a gist, here is what happened: • They mutually agreed on salary expectations in the beginning. • Then proceeded with technical rounds, later gave a take-home assignment that was about a week's worth of effort. The assignment itself consisted of building a full-stack web application (React/Redux, Firebase, Node/Express, TypeScript), and one of the requirements was to use the company's branding/logo and UI components in the code. She had to submit a pull request to their repository on Bitbucket after completing the assignment. (Personally these practices look very fishy to me, almost sounds like they're getting free work done. But I'll still give them benefit-of-doubt). • She clears all the technical rounds (in-fact they repeatedly mentioned that they were really happy with her tech skills). The CEO round also is done finally and seems to be happy. • However, finally she receives an email asking to submit her past payslips (from an organization that she used to work with 2 years ago!) another RED flag! She nevertheless reluctantly had to provide that information. • Then she receives an email from CEO saying that since they couldn't verify her payslip therefore they won't be extending an offer. (Now this is a dirty tactic that I've seen many employers use, when they feel that a candidate is somewhat in a grim situation. And given that it's COVID, who isn't!). It's pretty obvious what followed next.... • When she replied asking why they needed her previous payslip, and whether there was any concerns about her during the interview - the CEO tactfully avoids answering those questions, but instead says that they are ready to extend an offer because she would make a very valuable addition to the engineering team, but guess what? He slashed the salary (that they had previously agreed upon in the beginning) by MORE THAN HALF! I can tell you this much - their slashed revised offer was comparable to a college graduate salary.
