Hello my fellow Remote Indian community! πŸ‘‹πŸ½ I'd love to share with you some latest news on the work front! I've been working with QLC since 2018 as the Head of Comms. Over the last four-plus years, QLC has been working with universities and Governments to understand how we can change the way people learn. Education is " a lifelong curiosity". And yet we stop learning post school and college. πŸ“š What we realised through our experiments and adventures was that learning needs to be a habit, not an optional or one-off encounter. Just like the gym membership that keeps our bodies in shape, we needed a way to keep our grey cells working regularly. πŸ’ͺ🏽 🧠 πŸ“£ ✨ And so, today, QLC launches NewCampus, a lifelong learning school for people excited by change. We are a modern spin on the traditional campuses where you meet people from all walks of life connected by curiosity to study and understand the changing world. Each colearning space will offer daily bite-sized classes hosted by global entrepreneurs and experts from companies like WeWork, LinkedIn Airbnb, etc. ✨ πŸ“£ We are partnering with WeWork to open colearning spaces in a pipeline of locations in Singapore. In the coming months, we will be expanding further in WeWork locations in Bangkok, NewYork, etc. ✈️ πŸ—οΈ Would love for you all to check us out and share your feedback πŸ™‚ We open in Singapore next month and are open for applications now πŸŽ‰ http://bit.ly/2sUR440

πŸ’¬ This old HN thread raises quite a few questions. It’s a little hard for the ego to read some of the comments. But I guess one should use criticism to grow. The below quote is one of the sensible comments.
I recently had a contract job where I worked on code written by indian dev's. My main reaction was that they were actually quite capable and knew more than a few tricks, but these particular dev's were also making a large number of amatuer mistakes. There was a lot of copy/pasting of large blocks of code, for example.
My impression was that if they knew more high level theory, and did things in a more organized way, that they could be even more lazy and make even more money.

Ask HN: Are developers in India highly over-rated? ( May 15, 2015 ) old but gold :)

Hello everyone! As a student who is learning how to code, I have a few questions to ask here to be added to my roadmap. 1. What's the trend of Developer Jobs in Indian companies? Are they demanding degrees or self-taught. 2. How much of the knowledge do one need to apply for developer job in India? How much is the Payscale for Junior developers with 0 experience but some project? 3. It's said remote developers are less paid than in-station devs? Isn't that true? Are they underrated? 4. How well the remote developers are paid in India? (if you don't mind πŸ™‚) or at least the pay scale range? 5. What are the learning resources do you guys recommend for someone who has basics of HTML and CSS and stepping into JS like me?

πŸ’¬ Happiness = Reality/Expectations ⚠️ It is very easy to have unrealistic expectations that cannot be met in the real world
