The presence of phosphine is seen by many astrobiologists as a "biosignature" i.e. an indicator of the possible presence of life. The detection was made by the Atacama (ALMA) array located in Chile and the James Clerk Maxwell telescope located in Hawaii. The research team includes members from the University of Manchester, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Cardiff University. A paper will appear in the 14 September issue of Nature Astronomy.

Looking for a standing desk. I couldn’t find many options in India. Has anyone bought a standing desk from an international vendor? Would love to get some recommendations

I am looking replace my present Macbook air with a notebook and want to run linux on it (if any preloaded linux notebook available => well n good!) . As of now, I have no option to buy a notebook (having i7 or i9 processor). Any pointers? If I need to get it delivered from US or EU, what could be the best way? (Considering the present pandemic situation)

Since you're looking for premium laptops: Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition is a great laptop and is available with Ubuntu pre-loaded abroad. Not sure if they offer that service here in India. Or you could consider a Pixelbook (Go) that has a Linux VM for development. Finally, Thinkpad X1 Carbon is a great laptop and has good Linux support. All of these are quite expensive in India compared to their US/EU prices. Getting a friend to bring it will be the cheapest and most reliable way currently.

Recommended Read 👉 Why'd you get Coffee with Pam? (How Networking is Changing in the digital age )
“Sounds like torture,” my friends say. “Why would you get coffee with Pam, what do you even have to talk about?”
Pam and I grew up together, attending the same middle and high school. But we were never good friends; acquaintances, at best. Yet we met for coffee in February, our third time doing so in the past two years. My friends can’t understand why we keep meeting.
Pam is fictional, at least in my life. But her name represents many people I do maintain a relationship with, that my inner circle cannot understand.
The pandemic has screwed up our social needs. That said, it is vital that we play a deliberate role in meeting new people or maintaining an acquaintance ( with the proper safeguards in place ).
_Did you know that the longest study on happiness shows that the number one predictor for a good life is the quality of one’s relationships? This makes sense to me, but is not the message that’s taught to us. Neither is the message that maintaining quality friendships requires work and commitment._
🤔 I am curious to know how you are maintaining close friendships during these uncertain times. ⚠️ Disclaimer: I do not write this note. But I wish I had.

A request to everyone, for each channel: Can we add responses to a topic by creating a thread, in stead of responding to the topic in the main channel? This way, if somebody isn't keen on participating in a topic, they will not get notifications triggered by responses to that topic. Currently, every new message, whether it is a brand new topic, or a response to a topic, triggers a notification. This is a general best practice for Slack and it helps keep distractions to a minimum.

If you have an Nvidia GPU in your system, definitely give RTX Voice a try. It just blocks out background noise and it works surprisingly well! https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/guides/nvidia-rtx-voice-setup-guide/

Are there passionate 🎹 players here in the tribe? I’ve been passionate about playing electronic 🎹 and now that I’ve got one, I need directions to learn. I hear good reviews about the course on udemy, but the songs played in the course sounds unfamiliar to me. Is it okay to proceed or are there other sources I can learn from?

I am looking to run a minimal Linux VM on windows (basically to run conda and python). Right now I run a virtualbox + ubuntu running headless with 1GB RAM. Are there better (i.e. lighter on resources and faster response) options, maybe Docker or WSL? I haven't experimented with docker much, but on windows it seemed to have hiccups when I tried a while ago. Right now docker complains it cannot run since hyper V set up for VirtualBox ; and I don't want to switch and experiment if docker is not much better.
