That's right, on remote works, most of the time we get money only for the hours we work for. Now, if because of illness or holiday, if you don't work, you will not get paid, which will affect you financially, people say you can work when travelling, but not true. After exploring a few hours, you will get tired and once you back to the hotel, you will want to sleep or take rest, if you still work it will not be productive neither you will enjoy the holiday. So, besides remote jobs, it's better to invest in something that will earn money without your involvment.

There's a lot talk about how remote work is great for employees, environment and even social structure. But the real benefit of remote working is for companies and entrepreneurs. There's a lot of margin of innovation on making it accessible for founders.

Related to the above conversation about remote companies and Upwork. What are the legal aspects of hiring a remote worker in India by a company abroad say the USA? I had a thought about this from some time and started looking online for some information today. It would be great if community members can share their experience. It seems that companies can not directly hire a remote worker on a payroll basis. The company should Register In-Country or hire the employee through a third party. The company have to set up a way to run payroll in the country of the worker. I watched a video about elastic (shared on another channel) and it was mentioned the company hired CFO first so they can hire remote workers from anywhere in the world. Therefore sometimes it is mentioned on remote job posts, the company is hiring only in the 1-2 countries. The easiest option for a company is to hire remote Independent contractors. Therefore platforms like Toptal, Upwork makes it easier to hire remote workers. A remote contractor can be working on the same things as the employee in the office. But the legal status will be a contractor. A company can be willing to hire people on the payroll but due to legal issues, it is easier to hire contractors.
