@creamy-dawn-73235 So I've used upwork to get clients and now I work for Upwork too as a data scientist and have seen enough inside, imagine it as an iceberg, where 80-90% (millions of $) are being spent on just the High value talent all the time from Enterprises and big companies, and the remaining 10-20% (small $) jobs is what you see on the public platform --- the best approach is to move up the value chain, get Enterprises as clients eventually, get invite-only jobs, tap the hidden economy and use unconventional approaches to get them etc But to do this, you have to eat some frogs and do the small jobs first and only then can you move up +100 on @loud-glass-33663’s idea of becoming the client Sorry @worried-librarian-12856 , but you are not fully right, I've seen multiple Agencies and multiple 100K$+ jobs in the backend (Atleast over months, years), I work for those teams, you don't see it because it's invite-only and it's not public jobs but big jobs are definitely happening up there I also shared a series of posts about the gig economy and my best approaches on linkedin recently - 3 part series here https://www.linkedin.com/posts/pravin310_freelancing-gigeconomy-activity-6597390630534643712-Y2jX

Hey, you there! I know learning a programming language is intimidating and specially when it comes to combine and use different modules. This course will help you achieve getting started and intermediate level of python programming language. 1️⃣ Getting started: Features of python, python architecture, variables, strings and string operation, keyboard input. 2️⃣ Python insight: Control loops, data structures in python, read and write file, try and exception, functions and lambda functions, slicing and how to install more modules. 3️⃣ OOPs: Concept of object oriented programming, class, constructor, inheritance, iterable and developing a class (as basic project). Other modules of python 4️⃣ Advance: virtualenv, enumerate, JSON(read and write), pickle, regular expressions, web server (HTTP). Creating a database (sqlite) 5️⃣ Project related module: creating a shazam app - read audio, text to speech, audio transcribe, tkinter (adding a button, label, image, listbox etc), using Google api for speech to text and search a song.

So It’s almost a week of doing these calls. It’s working out great so far! Even though we know folks from the community, a short 1 to 1 with a member allows to learn a lot more about each person and their professional journey. I’m already planning the second one with most of the folks I talked with 🙂 Having a short water-cooler’esq chat works as a great break from otherwise monotonous remote work day. how do you explain the remote work culture to your friends and families? (Yes including those highly curious relatives haha 🙈) Been 2 years but I still don't think I am able to do justice with the explanation on why this culture is not popular in India or indian companies and why and how I work. Thought this would make an interesting question for our community here 😄

I want to try a side project which will be an e-commerce store. Since this is in a trial phase right now, I want to explore the best ways to create basic online setup to start testing the idea. The objective is to keep the efforts and budget involvement as low as possible to create a MVP level setup. I have seen people here setting up sites and related stuff quickly. I am not into software/dev but can figure out things if it doesn’t involve much technical knowledge, particularly coding. 1. What should be the preferred technology/platform and tools - I can work with Wordpress and that’s the only option I know about. Alternate could be Magento, but I’ve never tried it. Or Squarespace ? 2. Where should I look for hosting and domain related services for this specific need? 3. Is there any way to create an online shop without a standard inventory management system at the backend or have minimum level of inventory management involved ? Because there are only limited number of products right now. 4. Anything else that I can try to make my online setup easier and faster, so that I can focus more on the offline aspect it ? If the project works out well, the technology/platform should have scalability option or an easy way to make a switch to the new setup. I’m open for all the suggestions to explore.
