The main purpose of an ATS (as name suggests) is to do just the tracking, some of them do parse resumes to fetch key data points while others provide an online application form where you have to fill-up the details. Keeping a standard resume (Fancy stuff is good for in person, use a straightforward one on online applications) and Filling up in-depth details on online forms really helps. In context of applicants, the job of ATS is to make scoring interviews harder.

After few trials, this is the most productive setup for me. Is there a Mac app that lets me arrange my desktops vertically? It's there for Linux but couldn't find an option for mac.

Hi! I was just wondering, is there a dedicated channel where someone can upload their resume and people could give tips over how to improve it/fix mistakes/review it? like #resume-roast ! That would help the members to curate their resume according to running standards of whats acceptable and whats not, to get a good overview of presenting themselves correctly via an application.

    That's a good idea @ancient-area-35708! For now let's use #peer-review

I suddenly have a feeling that remote work is only for A+ performers only and not for anyone who is not self motivated, self driven and cannot work without managers - especially in the indian context. For small tasks and freelance projects - remote hiring was a charm and always worked, but full-time is when it gets tricky... Getting this after I started hiring remotely and assigning tasks on salary What do you guys think? Have you ever hired and felt the same before?

There's some really nice conversations going on here, so I'll add my thought process - something thats been keeping me from sleeping over the past few days. And this also stems from the "trust and verify" statement I made in the thread above: I find that toxic behaviour is these days being celebrated in the workplace. Toxicity needs to be explicitly shot down. Not saying something about it means you acknowledge its presence! Is this something that others notice / have noticed in their orgs?

Was speaking to a really nice friend of mine and he made this statement I put up today in another slack channel - Toxicity at workplace can be identified by how much time it takes to blame everything thats wrong at work on the employee that just resigned.

Just wanted to ask question to people already working remotely, places like Wework and workafella or any other co-working place in india will be ready to give workstation to only one person, if we are working on some other country startups from here? Or is it like we need minimum N people to get a WKS there?

I'm currently at wework only, there is no limit of N people, you could get 1 seat as well if thats what you need. 🙂

Hi, I am looking for people with more than 6 months of remote experience. Have to ask them questions about remote life in general. In return, please feel free to ask me about anything. If you are willing, please leave a 🙋 on this and I will contact you via DM.

Please bear with me if this sounds very naive/obvious. If I move my personal blog from Blogger to Wordpress can I setup an auto redirect for the older blogspot post queries as the traffic is driven by few pages and I don’t want to lose it ( also reason for why I didn’t move so long) ?

Really interesting. The conclusion I draw from this in our remote work setup is that community is a really really important place to share and talk about our work and our life around it. We can't keep our experiences to ourselves. They are meant to be shared.

Have a question on print quality of physical books. I read both physical books and use my Kindle as well as the Kindle app on my Mac, iPad. I have a high preference for physical books. (Surprisingly or not I seem to prefer reading on the Mac, iPad than the Kindle. ) Unfortunately I am put off the by the quality of the print books that I purchase from Amazon. I believe this is a publisher issue and thought few of them had this problem. Recently I ordered a hardcopy via Cloudtail and chose to pay more for the hardcopy because I assumed that the print would be better. This was an O’Reily book btw. Was so disappointed with the Xerox like quality of the pages that I tagged it for “Return” even before the delivery guy left my apartment complex. For those who prefer physical books and or buy them, is this something that you see a lot? What do you do about it? As I ask, I realise that there may be no other option than to live with these but I at least want to try to get better quality books.
