my opinion is: switch to the stdlib 9 functions, raise minimal version to >= 9 < 10, mark it as breaking change and use something like 'require puppetlabs/stdlib 9'

I think so, but

if you've strict enabled in your puppet code the deprecate function that raises the warning actually triggers a catalog compilation error

so you cannot really use the deprecated functions

and if we stick with them we would need to touch the code later again to replace it with the new function anyways

FYI I see many failures on CentOS 7 (and other Enterpriseⓡ™ Linux) on package installation: "One of the configured repositories failed (Unknown), and yum doesn't have enough cached data to continue. At this point the only safe thing yum can do is fail. There are a few ways to work "fix" this:" followed by a list of workarounds and finally "Cannot retrieve metalink for repository: epel/x86_64. Please verify its path and try again".

This seems to only happen sometimes, and on the first use of yum. Re-running the test a few times seems to help.

I guess the root cause is some unreliable issue on the internet, but in case somebody has ideas for things that can help, this is cool.

I just put in a quick update to https://github.com/voxpupuli/puppet-catalog-diff-viewer/pull/39 so the viewer goes to the vox pages rather than camptocamp I wasn't sure if the license and badging parts should also come off as they are camptocamp based too.

I was thinking about facterdb, I'm just doing the windows facts and wondering about our inclusion of legacy facts now. Does it make sesne to drop them as Puppet 7 goes out of support?
