That's got it. Just had to wrap a div with same id around the response and all good. Very quick help. Thanks again.
  • f
BTW I am seeing this bug too: https://github.com/bigskysoftware/htmx/issues/854 v1.7.0
  • m
are you able to reliably reproduce?
  • m
Can you give me a good small test case for it? Would like to get it fixed today.
  • f
I can reproduce, I wont have time to figure out how to bundle it up in a tidy test case right now. 12.30am here sorry :S .. Basically do a hx-get and hx-include a form and hx-push-url. Go back do it a second time and going back fails. If you have not resolved in next 24 hrs I can look to do a test case around this time tomorrow.
    <div hx-include="#field-list-form" hx-target="#work-area">
        <button class="btn btn-secondary btn-sm"
                hx-get="/app/imagery/page"
                hx-push-url="/app/imagery">View Imagery</button>

💯 to this. I used gRPC for communication between a back-end service and a programmatic advertising "demand side platform" and it was very smooth sailing, but I can't see any advantage to using it client-side, since you'd still have the work of deserializing protobuf messages somewhere in the stack. Let the server do that exchange, send the client things it natively understands.

trying to repro, can't locally, lmk if you can help investigate

can you get the swap/settle delay modifiers to work with oob-swap?
  • r
Orange Site hypercard thread warms my nerd heart
  • e
Yep, I'm pretty sure you can. If I remember the docs correctly you can do everything with an oob swap that you can do with a normal swap. I could be mistaken.

I have a simple test case in the issue here using bottle. https://github.com/bigskysoftware/htmx/issues/854#issuecomment-1100643024

I’m working in a repo that aims to help people integrate htmx with existing projects. The work is in progress, and he lack examples. I want your advises on that, thanks! (Specifically the README needs review…)
  • f
It may need a separate thread, like "tutorials" or "advocate"/"promote"
  • h
the push url bug is happening because it's loading htmx multiple times
  • h
updated the bug with more info, put a potential fix up IDK how to work with AMD so feel free to close if it's totally wrong
  • g
is anybody here using htmx with ruby/rails? i'm curious about people's experiences
  • s
👋 Can somebody please give me a hint how to solve this: I'm POSTing a form and then I want to replace the form with some response (that's the easy part) and also trigger the reload of a particular list on the same page (ideally only if the form POST has succeeded).
  • g
Howdy! This is a pretty common question. There's a link in the examples section that covers it well. I'll grab it 🙂
  • g
    I always forget what it's called: https://htmx.org/examples/update-other-content/
  • s
Thanks, exactly what I've been looking for!
  • m
🙂 yep, I would personally use an event for that use case, but oob swaps would work too, depending on what feels cleaner w/ your server side tech
  • m
    thank you @User !
  • g
Apparently, I'm "fired up" today 🙂
  • m
I used intercooler.js w/ rails extensively. It was built on and for rails. The experience was very good, but I knew the library author and could speak directly to him, sometimes out loud.
  • m
committing directly to dev, authoratatively answering questions in general... scary
  • g
    You gave me this power.
  • s
At a first sight, I prefer the event approach but solution 4 also looks appealing to me. OTOH I might start just expanding the target as the contents are really close and it seems to be the simplest approach - if it becomes an issue I could optimize it further.
  • g
Yeah. OOB swaps are (probably) a little faster because everything is bundled into a single request. But, I also prefer the event-based method because it's easier for me to make my server do one thing at a time. In the end, it probably depends on the rest of your architecture, but it's good to know you've got lots of options.
