hey @User as a weekend project would you be opposed to a semicolon/spacing sweep
  • m
    white space is an issue
  • m
@User you nlike tabs, right? I like spaces.
  • g
    tabs
  • m
I hate when I copy and pasted in example code from my IDE here and it sizes wrong
  • g
    width 2 or 4
  • m
    spaces, width 2
  • m
    😑
  • h
I would also be happy to set up pre-commit /prettier
  • g
    tabs
  • h
idc about what the actual style guide is I just want my editor to stop yelling at me
  • m
if discord respected a system wide tab spacing, I'd be ok w/ tabs
  • m
in fact, it would need to be internet wide
  • m
smh, another promising dev community brought low by tab v. space
  • g
the internet is a sick and sad place. we can only know in our own hearts that we do the right thing.
  • m
    😑

there's only one solution, which is to use a pre/post git hook to convert into our preferred format when checking out the code
  • m
i worked with a guy who advocated checking in ASTs rather than text
  • m
    smart guy
  • h
that's too smart for your own good
  • m
this was a guy who built his own programming langauge, editor, debugger, etc. from the ground up
  • s
    What about adding a
    .editorconfig
    file? https://editorconfig.org/
  • m
kinda operating on a different level
  • m
I think we have that, which is why, against my will, I am using tabs
  • s
    Ah, I can't see it.
  • s
(I prefer tabs, because then everyone can just use their favourite spacing value)
  • g
Hey, sorry to change the topic, but I'm not seeing this alert anymore. Did you already merge it?
  • m
    idk
  • m
I just know that if we could get rid of node I'd be happy
