    Yeah, that's the other alternative. I'm writing my backend in the Janet programming language (a Lisp-like) and I was thinking it'd probably be easiest to write something to translate my Janet code into JS rather than Hyperscript.

    I realize that I can setup an event that will trigger on response (actually, I could not get that to work, but thats another issue), but the vent won't get the response. Here, I want to process the response before filling the target element

    OK, I see that it can be done by using htmx.onLoad(content). So new question - is there a way to localise htmx.onLoad? I have seven instances of <... hx-" elements, and I only want one of the to have processing?

    Maybe there could be a basic section and an advanced section. It would be good to have some more advanced examples that could be styled and animated etc to show this is proper production stuff. You just need to add that yourself.

    Typically you would put a class on the element in question and use a selector, run on the new content, to initialize it

    This is what hyperscript is designed for. I have considered adding a js: prefix in htmx but so far it hasn’t bubbled up

    I've seen a lot of loading state related questions and most of the time it's not straightforward to show, hide or disable something without having to write some extra CSS or hook into an event. With this extension you can disable elements, add and remove classes, and filter the loading states to specific actions. You can also set a delay so the loading state only runs if a response is not received within a certain amount of time.     Yeah, I resisted Hyperscript initially because, well, I guess I'm like all the other people that recoiled at the syntax. I went back and looked at the documentation and it's definitely growing on me.

    understandable 🙂 consider Alpine.js as well, it's an excellent library and you can write plain ol' js

    Yeah, I went and read through its documentation, too. I find the reactivity aspect appealing in the abstract but I'm not sure if I really need it for what I'm trying to do. I'm also coming around to the notion that a language with event-driven control flow is really what I want when I'm writing code for the front end.

    attribute somewhere, but I fail to refind it in the documentation.

    For sure, but I'd prefer if someone actually tested it first. I have an idea for an improvement where you can add a 
    data-loading-target
    attribute to apply the loading states to the target rather than the current element, but not sure if it's needed yet.

    hx-credentials

    just for fun I tried seeing what it'd take to make some HTMX work without JS and quickly gave up because HTML5 forms don't have Delete and Put HTTP methods for some reason

    today I answered a question that nobody on this Discord has asked: does HTMX work on the Nintendo 3DS browser? No. No it does not. Mostly joking of course, IE11 came out years after the 3DS, plus I have no way to debugging on 3DS to figure out what web standard is freaking it out. That'd be a fun project.
