    Awesome read. Here to learn more!

    Would it be helpful for the project to officially adopt a header e.g. "NOHTMX/HX-DISABLED/HX-FALSE" a boolean which defaults to false even when omitted? that way, devs who are creating APIs which could optionally return JSON or HTML have something they can switch on?

    welcome 🙂
  • m
    🙂 welcome as well. The article came out of my (and our communities) experience w/ intercooler.js and htmx, and us trying to refine the difference between HTML-driven applications and JSON-driven applications
  • m
    ended up a pretty good discussion:

    I'm using htmx load polling to render a spinner, however the spinner is reloaded each time its polled and the job is incomplete, resulting in a juddered not-smooth animation. Any thoughts on how to not render in a case like this?
  • u
    I tried using regular polling instead of load polling and returning an HTTP 100. That worked, but htmx raised an exception upon receiving a 100 code.
  • m
    Put an
    hx-preserve
    and an id on the spinner: https://htmx.org/attributes/hx-preserve/
  • u
    Hmmm that didn't seem to work unless I am doing it wrong:
    Copy code
    <div hx-get="/spinner_worker/run?job_id=<%= @job_id %>" hx-trigger="load delay:1s">
  <div class="spinner-border" role="status" hx-preserve="true" id="spinner">
    <span class="visually-hidden" >Loading...</span>
  </div>
</div>
  • m
    are there any other things w/ the id
    spinner
    on it?
  • m
    I'll put together a jsfiddle in a bit, don't waste too much time

    smh, deep state dis-info agent @User is spreading FUD about hyperscript on HN, claiming is it a 26mb download: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29320756

    i'm playing the long game

    they can't resist stuffing more JS into their app
  • m
    surprised to see alpine has a dependency and is actually bigger than hyperscript!

    we'll get there deniz

    it's HN, we are not there to spread knowledge, but rather to have fun

  • m
    looks like the situation you are outlining, and it preserves the spinner pretty well from what I can see

    Thanks @mysterious-toddler-20573 😅 When I need a publicist, I’ll know who to call, for sure.

    @everyone - this is a breaking change. Everything looks good to me on my one machine, but I’d love to catch any potential issues BEFORE we cut a final release. I’m not usually one to mess around with pre-release versions, but if there ever was a time to test out the changes BEFORE 1.7, it would be for this release.
