“You see here, Clyde, no need to look out the window. Now we can guarantee that everyone has completed their tasks by simply recomputing the cryptographic signatures of every task that has ever been imagined…”

    call that proof of work

Oh, how I love this band of merry miscreants, this dollop of deafeningly defiant technocrats, nay, this belligerent bag of blissfully diverse yet philosophically semi-coherent agents of chaos, whom the world will one day look back on and say, “wow, those guys really knew what was what”. Or not. But at least we’re having fun 😁
  • g
You had me at “agents of chaos”

Wrote a quick blog post on webdev in Nim with a mention of HTMX at the end (no code samples though). http://arhamjain.com/2021/11/22/nim-webdev.html

Relevant Excerpt: > Instead, what I recommend is using something like HTMX and hyperscript to add interactivity to pages, rather than reaching for an SPA framework. With something like React/Karax, you have four states to keep track of: > > Backend state/database > Frontend state/application > Virtual DOM state > Actual DOM state > > With something like HTMX/hyperscript, you just have two: backend state, and the DOM state. This is inherently unscalable - you won’t be able to build the next Google Docs with this stack without ripping your hair out. However, it works fine for 90% of web applications.

Wait until they figure out how well an “intentionally unscalable” app can actually scale.

direct links are a no no iirc on hn

@User you might want to check out the repo superseriousbusiness/gotosocial because I think it might already solve half the ambitions of your repo

Here's another post I wrote on a simple chat based application using HTMX and Nim (with code): https://arhamjain.com/2021/11/22/nim-simple-chat.html I don't think I'll be writing much for a while now, but I'm glad I finally got to get some of my thoughts out of my head.

Thanks for pointing it out. Yes, it looks very similar to what I'm working on. There are some important details that I haven't described well in my placeholder description. Or, to paraphrase @User "But my app is special" 😛 At the very least, Go To Social is much further down the road than I am, as they have a working app that already does a lot of stuff. I will dig deeper into what they're doing (and how) and see how many lessons I can learn from what they've already made 🙂
