    since you mentioned IntelliJ being your ideal IDE, VSCode's layout actually still seems more flexible to me than there

    maybe it's just about the configuration being a bit awkward though, you can't just drag / dock things with the mouse I think

    no, vscode still has nice drag support for splitting editors
