Pretty sure I have not encouraged ppl here to watch this before: But it came up again at the pub today, so I watched it again because I found I wasn't able to articulate myself on the topic as well as I could. It's only 30min long. Pls watch it all. It's still delivering important info until around the 28min mark (just references and credits after that), even if you think you know what it's going to say, or have already formed an opinion on the topic. Pls also then circulate it.

An end of the year thought of gratitude for this community. I appreciate having this place to continue to learn and evolve, to see an interesting exchange of ideas, to be exposed to new techniques, to get and offer help at times, to occasionally have chuckle about programming - and life - in general, and to have a sense of belonging. This microcosm has helped motivate me to learn things like using CFPM and CFSETUP which alone have saved me countless hours and headaches during updates/upgrades already, just as one example. For all of that, and more, I am grateful. Thank you fellow CF-Slackers, and hopefully here's to an even better 2023 for us all. Cheers! 🍺

Hi folks. I haven't had time to follow the conversations here recently. Have people found good use cases / examples of using ChatGPT for ColdFusion (or html/css) development? I've experimented, with some success.

On Windows 10, when Windows says it wants to update, and I say I'm ready, it still doesn't actually do it for multiple minutes. If instead I restart manually, would that get things installed correctly, but quicker? Or is it downloading and/or preparing stuff in the background during that time, and it's better to wait?

Always better to wait on Windows

yeah, it works either way but check task manager as it's usually churning away in the background

the wait is just because it creates a restore point in case it fups up (win 11 is much nicer)

For various reasons, I would just like to take a moment to encourage everyone, if you haven't already, to find some way to contribute to society. If you get paid for it, it doesn't count. Most non-profit organizations need volunteers in many different capacities and there are even websites that make it easy to volunteer. For example, does your local fire company or EMS need help? You could help with fundraisers, finances, recruitment and retention, their web presence, and other things. 🙂
