Well: depends on context :wink:. It's easier to see when considering the other way around: it's easier to say "I hate the French", than "I hate French people", as the latter is slightly more personal. It's just a micro-improvement, and is a harmless suggestion. It's good at showing up ppl who are pricks though, when they rail against something so inconsequential.

Morning everyone; can anyone tell me where to find 2-3 advanced Adobe Coldfusion programmers? Salaries will be in the range of ~125k to 150k USD? I’m open to FT or Contract with FT hours? Man, I hate shopping for solutions.  Been looking at chat solutions all day and 3 out of 5 vendors won't provide information until they can add you to their contact database.  I get enough junk without adding more to the stack!

If you have google, create a + address with the name of the vendor. If they begin spamming you, just block anything that comes in to the + address.
p.s. this does not work on emails I send to you just so you know, don't even try it

Thanks, managing the spam isn't the problem..That's easy.. I just got set off at Hubspot..  I created an account there in 2009 to eval their CRM. Today, I decided to create my "Free account" and got the Message - You have an account that is pending verification.  lol

So I started a chat and am told - we purge accounts that are 220 days of inactivity - yeah... right..  And they wonder why Devs don't want to provide email addresses..

BTW, chat capabilities have come a LONG way since the last time I looked

Yeah, which makes total sense. Basically they are all async JS widgets.

My client wants me to build one cuz he doesn't believe in gathering contact info for other entities - but these Agent consoles are a HUGE amount of work..

The tough part is the SMS. You could SUPER easily use HTMX to send async calls back to a CF page that pings someone and starts a chat that's tracked someplace, but that ping out to an SMS is the trick. You'd need some kind of hook.

Not building one; too many unknowns and too short of a schedule.

It's Fun Friday! Today's Fun Friday question is, what is your favorite adult beverage? If it's a beer, which one? A mixed drink? What kind? Wine? How do you pick?

Whatever contains alcohol, not too picky.  though if it's beer, Octoberfest "German" stouts".

My 2c... It depends... Mostly on Time and Location...
Hot and sweaty == Beer - lager or pils
Dinner == Wine - Pinot Noir
Party == Beer - Almost anything from Belgium or Netherlands

A good cabernet or manhattan - makers mark, carpano antiqua and peychauds

Beer: Double, Hazy, usually with Citra hops + others or barrel aged stout north of 12% so I know the love is real :heart:
Drink: Old Fashioned, double sweet, Rye OR Weller Full Proof, with one rock
Wine: red table wine, Italian if possible. Not picky, but I don't want to have to chew it.

During long winter evenings, nothing is better than Sherry (Jerez) or Porto, or sweet brandy. If food is right, crystal clear Polish vodka is never bad option.

Almost any IPA (hazy or West Coast), stout (especially the barrel-aged and pastry styles), sour (including fruited sours), Saison, Barleywine (depends on time of day and who I'm with).  Love the occasional wee dram of single-malt Scotch whisky or Irish whiskey, although some of the nicer blended ones are pretty good.  Like small-batch bourbons too, especially Woodford Reserve.

Lately it's been Irish whiskey, and, since it's winter, I've been making hot toddies. An ounce of whiskey, a few ounces of hot water, a cinnamon stick, a teaspoon or so of honey, and some cloves stuck into lemon slice so they aren't floating around. Warm and comforting when the windchill is -6 F.

I will always have the perry if it exists.  But it usually doesn't.

If I had to choose one, I'd go with beer. There are too many good ones these days to have one favorite, but preferring darker beers my go-to is usually Yuengling Porter. The fact that it's a bargain doesn't hurt.

I'm struggling a bit reading one documentation piece; it's good, and written by expert, but... this is my problem. I'd prefer a documentation written by non-expert, who asks questions 'why' and writes answers. It's very like "HP &amp; half-blood prince" - field tips inside the book helped him get better results than printed text.

so while I hate to be "that person", I've found ChatGPT to be ridiculously good at explaining things at different user knowledge levels.

If you can paste the contents of the docs in and say "explain the following as though you are training a junior developer" or something like that, it might do the trick

I've done that on a few AWS things that I was just absolutely not clicking on and somehow I think I actually (mostly) understand them now? Maybe? Might be an old dog/new tricks thing with me though ymmv

Agreed, ChatGPT can be pretty good at translating nerd.

But it not going to create example per documentation, or add to docs omitted defaults.

I swear I have seen a ton of movies  where the AI realizes that humans are obsolete, inefficient, and ultimately need to be exterminated.  So glad that was just make-believe, as We humans are so smart, we would never invent something that would destroy us.

Based on this, I have no doubt that
a) our robot overlords will indeed wipe all humanity out, and
b) it will be because someone asked them to write their homework essay and the robots got it hilariously(?)  wrong because they have zero comprehension of their inputs or outputs

Doesn't have blue light filtering? It really does make a difference after a day of staring at screens.. Unless of course you really are at a titty bar, then yeah, no blue light coating is needed. ;D
