I'm having a real hard time watching what is going on with twitter, are you? I mean, what kind of thought process has you quit a good paying job, with an entrenched ground-floor opportunity to turn something kinda good (and actually pointless IMO) into something with the potential to be groundshaking and great (referring to his statement that he wants to turn twitter into something like wechat (which is awesome BTW)) all because you don't agree with the owner's POLITICS (even though he has a track record of success) and the fact that there is a potential that USERS with different politics than yours may start using the app? I don't get it - does that make me old, or just not sufficiently self-entitled? I have worked for lots of folks who's politics I don't agree with, on apps that I don't like many times in my career.

Question for any VAT registered UK business owners here. We run a UK based SaaS platform that charges annual subscriptions to UK organisations (mainly schools) and we charge 20% VAT on the subscription price. We now need to be able to offer subscriptions to overseas organisations (schools in non-UK countries). What are the VAT implications? Do we charge VAT at UK rate, or do we have to register for VAT in each country and charge their local rate or do we simply not charge the VAT because it is a B2B transaction?

Iโ€™m no VAT expert but Iโ€™m sure you have to charge the rate applicable in the country where the customer, currently, is. The fun scenario always quoted is when youโ€™re on the EuroStar and start the transaction on the UK side and complete it when you arrive in France. Which rate??? ๐Ÿค” When paying for things from the States I sometimes get charged UK VAT which is annoying (a VPN endpoint in the US is your friend ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). I think HMRC have some VAT clearing house arrangement that you have to register the transaction with them and they ensure the tax, that they collect, is sent to the right country. But donโ€™t quote me on any of this!

Apropos of not much, I just flicked some money to my local foodbank because I reckon they will be needing all the help they can get these days. Maybe if poss think about doing similar? Cheers.

I actually watched night at the roxbury, twice. Thinking it was soooo bad - I must have missed something the first time through.... Turns out - I was dumber than I thought - by watching it a second time! I refuse to fall into the same trap, this time around!

If you'd be willing to go $50 up, my favorite monitor is the LG UltraWide series. CostCo has one for $249 (34" but that's misleading as the height is the same as a normal monitor). I stack mine.

Does anyone know how I can duplicate a unix-like "latest" shortcut for windows directory? I have the following directories; c:\myApp\v1 c:\myApp\v2 I have created a shortcut called "latest" to "c:\myApp\v2" in the "c:\myApp\" directory. In windows Explorer - double-clicking on "latest" places me in the v2 sub-folder as expected. However I want to be able to do the same in a DOS / Powershell prompt - which isn't working. "cd" ing to \myApp\latest gives me cannot find path : in powershell The system cannot find the path specified : in DOS I have added ".lnk" to the PATHEXT system environment variable and restarted new DOS / PS Prompts - but it still doesn't work. Thanks.

Wouldn't it be good if whichever muppet came up with the term "serverless" thought it through a bit better, and realised the opening they were affording trolls. It's just a dumb, imprecise (or just flat ourt inaccurate) term. Rolls off the tongue better than SomeElsesServers though, I guess. Still. At least they weren't the person who thought "nonce" was a good word to use in technical jargon.
