I suggested the choice instead of NW, as the rules do not say random, sowwyy

It doesn't need to say random for the NW ruling to take place. A case can be made for putting it closest to the Oathsworn who threw it or just using the NW ruling. Just be consistent in your play since it isn't explicitly outlined in the rules

If there are equally viable options you would use the NW ruling.

reasonable NW ruling against ambiguity. But! I'd say the laws of physics are strange in the Deepwoods, no matter how you throw it always bounces north-northwestward 😄

I agree 😅 There is also a case to be made for having it land in the closest hex to the Oathsworn who threw it since other cards in the game specifically make this distinction.

Either way people play, as long as they are consistent should be fine.

the rulebook says when throwing to place a tracker token in "any empty hex adjacent to the target," that sounds to me like you can pick the hex you where you want your weapon to end up

Yup, which is why I said that people can easily make the case for putting it closest to you. This is one of those spots that isn't worded as specifically as some people want. My advice to JuanV earlier wasn't so much related to the thrown rule as much as just general advice about the game.

    Erm, that's totally mirror

It’s how light reflects off a mirror, yes. Something about actually doing the movement feels wrong to me is all. Since it’s hexes and you are hitting a flat surface it feels like you should always bounce back the way you came, not sometimes ricochet

But there only 6 different straight directions and u mirror these when bouncing. So I'm not quite sure what ur meaning

When you shine light directly at a mirror, the reflection comes straight back at you

Only if you shine it at an angle does it reflect off at that same angle

Say the bear has to move two more spaces. But there’s only 1 space, then board edge

If I was able to move to that wall and hit at the angle to reflect off 45 degrees, ok. But it doesn’t feel like I would, because hexes

I’m going to hit the hex back that is a straight line to my facing

I get how the logic is being derived. That second point of movement is representative of stepping into the half space and hitting the wall at an angle. Can’t be off board in reality though, so stay on board and move at the angle

Because it’s hexes it just feels more natural to not pretend you stepped into that half covered space and hit a wall at an angle and say you hit the back of the hex and bounce straight back

There are no 45° degree angles, there all 120°. Bouncing and random movement from knockback or stagecards are always in straight lines.

To move at the angle shown you have to treat it as if you hit the wall at an angle

    11/29/2022, 5:05 PM
All I’m saying is it feels more natural to me because of the hexes to envision the wall is like this, so you would bounce straight back
  • k

    Kaaihn

    11/29/2022, 5:06 PM
The borders are not straight lines, because hexes. The bounce rules are pretending they are straight.

This half space visible in the center of the box acting as wall? It’s outside the border. I can’t step in that. I have to stop in the full hex 1 space in front of me. The direction of travel I’m coming in, the back wall of the last hex I can be in, I’ll hit it straight on. So I’d bounce straight back if it was a mirror effect. To bounce at an angle the rules are pretending you stepped into that space that’s outside of the border. That’s the only way to hit a wall at an angle. It’s just representative vs actual. Which is totally fine. My only point is actual feels more natural to me since the hex lines are right there
