I would say the following statement: people are capable of doing it better than painted D&D painted miniatures with these contrast/speed paints with some personal advice.

Great looking foam board! How did you end up making the hexes, some sort of mold pressed on it or?

I really considered something similar, but did not pull the trigger as I started to think of the hexes and that I guess there is an alternative map on the otherside too.

Cheers V-Rex! Not gonna lie, was painstaking lol. I used the large poison and tree cardboard overlays and drew it up with those. Then used an exacto knife and steel ruler to cut the lines. Then a pencil to widen the cuts. I’m pretty happy with how its turned out, I will eventually 3D print an upscaled version of my Talisman Sabre Terrain to suit but for now this will be nice and immersive.

That is a foamboard alright! I do not envy the hex by hex drawing. You did very exact job!

I sort of want to do it, but hesitant. I know once you get past part of making hexes, doing the terrain is usually fun... just have to keep it even enough for models.

Yeah I wanted to really go all diorama on it but tried to keep it nice and playable. Minis and terrain stand on it fine. And you’re exactly right, drawing the hexes was the monotonous part, everything after that was really fun.

How long project was it for you?

Took me a weekend. I enjoy the terrain stuff, it’s a hobby within the hobby for me so it’s a win/win

Well, I lie, a weekend for the majority, I’ve been tweaking the final flock/extra touches last few days

I did display piece for Bardsung to store all miniatures, that was fun. But I could put that to cabinet too.

Yeah I have some big shelf racks out in the gatage for this and numerous other large projects
