As the approach of Roam and Dendron are extremly different

i think roam does a great job with bi-directional links and have a great product with lots of useful features. the cons are that its online only (worry about data loss, especially since this has happened multiple times with roam), proprietary, and has a rather high monthly fee

theoretically, you should be able to import your notes from roam into dendron and have it just work. roam is like dendron where every note is a one level hierarchy

i would find a tool that you're comfortable with and just stick with that, at least in the beginning

it takes a while to find a good workflow. i would stick with something for a few weeks to a few months to truly get the most out of it

It is interesting to know the existence of dendron, as everyone in roam says that roam is so free that it don't needs a proper hierarchy; but in dendron hierarchy form your notes. Neither one approach is superior or inferior to another, it is interesting to see such contrast as a user (also as a note taking tool explorer) 😆

yeah, we definitely represent different philosophies on note taking. that being said, dendron doesn't force you to use hierarchies, we just strongly encourage you to 😇

you could use dendron like roam. but it would be like buying a computer to do power points. you'd be missing out on 90% of what it was built to do
