As far as I know, FSLogix will write to the second location if the first location is unavailable

From what I can remember it will write to the first one. If the first one is down. Then it will write to the second one. But the second one would be a new profile unless you backv2. I never hear of it writing to both at the same time though. But they are saying nope I’m wrong haha

When the user logs on it will iterate through the file shares defined in VHDLocations until it a) finds a profile for the user or b) completes iterating them all and can't find one, in which case it will create one in the first available
If a user had a profile in share1 and they logged on and share1 was unavailable, it would create a new profile in share2

If share1 then came back online, it would use the profile from share1 at next logon because it would be checked first

Okay thanks. So no data writing at the same time to both. One or the other depending on the check and alliteration through the SMB shares. If location 2 is up and 1 is down. A new profile would be created with a blank profile in location 2.
Unless CC is used which again the client appears to be set on not using CC as they think they can do this without it and without replicating them. Lol

Unless CC or another tool is in use the profiles wouldn’t be in sync.

yea, I will. Just need the brain trust on World of EUC to make sure I was correct in my thinking. Typically if time permits, I lab it out, document it and show them my findings. That usually does it 🙂

I have no idea. Some think they no better and instead of taking the time to listen to me, they can be a real donkey at times. I just listen to them and humble myself. I go get some ammunition and come back with here are my results.

i once did a poor mans CC, where i defined 2 VHDlocations but used Bvckup2 to replicate to the other
the 2nd location was more a 'catch' if something happened to the first/primary.

Yea, that is exactly what I did as well for the VHDlocations before. It worked very nice

maybe thats what the customer was referencing, not CC, but another technology that replicated the data?

I thought so as well, but I asked are you going to replicate it. Then that is when they said we don't have to. Then gave me the spill on if you define the VHDlocations, it will do it for you. Which lead a huge question mark in my head yesterday.
