Is it the ODFC VHDX that runs out of space? If so what is the configured max size and what is redirected to the ODFC VHDX?

no it was the volume that ran out of space thathouses ALL the vhdx's
most users are OK but some cant get into outlook..I assumed the ODFC was housing their outlook profile.. so figured deleting and letting that recreate would fix it but not in this case

If nothing is configured via registry or policy it's 30GB

If a .FSLx folder is created it's usually because the user already has a folder in the C:\Users folder
Is that the case here?

Anything in registry here - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Is it a non persistent server/VDI?

no they are perm RDS hosts

Take a look in that registry key it can contain information about user profiles, even though they have been removed in C:\Users

FYI deleting users profile container allowed her to get back into outlook, etc

was hoping if they ever had issues with outlook i could just blow away the ODFC container 😕

Do you have anything else in the ODFC container? Like OneDrive or Teams?

IMO there is no reason to use ODFC container at all. Just store the OST file in the profile container

well, my main reason was from all the horror stories i heard about OST's corrupting
so I figured "lets separate them"

That's a fair reason. Have you had issues with corrupting OST files before FSLogix?

Personally I haven't seen any corrupt OST files since Office 2010

i need to spend more time with FSLogix profiles and making sure they dont get bloated

Bloated compared to what? FSLogix will require more storage compared to Windows roaming profiles or Citrix profiles, because it contains the entire user profile. You can come a long way with the redirectionx.xml, just don't overdo it

I just mean like ensuring users Recycle Bins are empty, etc

The Version for Auto Shrinking is GA. But dont Update to this Version. Its a mess a lot of issues

@Kasper Johansen You don't agree that a good reason to use ODFC is to not waste space backing up data that is already in the cloud? For example, having a separate ODFC volume allows me to exclude Outlook data, teams data, OneDrive data, OneNote data ect from my backups. Is there something I am missing that I should be doing instead? (Same idea with not keeping it on azure files to save space\money)

@stormlight that's because I rarely recommend to backup up the profile container nor the office container. The majority of Citrix setups I have done over the last 5-7 years we have made great efforts to make sure that app settings etc. were configured automatically, so that there was a minimum of manual configuration
Also if you split the containers up, you add additional complexity
I'm not saying splitting the containers up is wrong, there are scenarios where you want to split them up. In your case for instance 🙂

@Kasper Johansen do you redirect my docs out of the profile, disable save to desktop ect? We chose fslogix to stop having to do all that so the fslogix profile is the one stop location for their data and avoid app that dont like redirection ect.

@stormlight I recommend OneDrive with Know Folder Move for Documents and Desktop and Microsoft Edge for favorites sync, that should take care of the most used redirected folders
