Installed with CLI. .\XenDesktopServerSetup.exe --% /components CONTROLLER,DESKTOPSTUDIO /NOSQL /passive /configure_firewall /disableexperiencemetrics /noreboot
n
ouch...none of the services started....anything in the event logs?
g
Can you clarify first reboot after installing? The installer guide (and my experience) says that the install takes multiple reboots + re-invoking the install from a local path until getting a particular exit code from the installer. Is it possible the install didn't finish here?
r
it could be... man, if it doesn't resume itself, then barf!
m
I know it sounds strange, but in the past I often solved this by simply installing the VDA twice with the same parameters including the noreboot switch but doing a reboot trough the deployment software.
r
this is for the XDC, but i hear ya
m
Whoops sry. Too late to be smart :-/
d
Saw that with my StoreFront 2203 CU2 servers on Windows 2019 servers. Different services, but the services didn't start after the first reboot, but the next reboot all was well.
r
I will screw with it and report back. 🙂
h
is this on Windows Core or GUI... I have seen it on Windows Core. Had to install twice because it would not restart the installer after the restart.... Also seen things like this if changing the Core default settings. Example of changing from Powershell to CMD shell or vice versa depending on windows version. Or stopping sconfig from auto starting on new Core installs
r
Yeah, multiple reboots, they aren't starting. Ran the installer command again, rebooted, still not starting. wtf. Will roll back from snapshot and try GUI install
g
Ryan, just flagging that if there's an install to resume it'd be located at
%ProgramData%\Citrix\XenDesktopSetup\XenDesktopVdaSetup.exe
As long as that still exists the install hasn't fully finished and you'd need to keep calling that executable. and if you're using core it would be
%ProgramData%\Citrix\XenDesktopSetup\XenDesktopRemotePCSetup.exe
r
not core, full gui.
Thanks will check on these
Does the same shit with a GUI install. wth.
g
Ok, doesn't seem like an issue with how you're running the installer. If it needed to resume would expect different folders there.
r
there are a couple OS level .NET upgrades I am running now. crossfingers
Sigh.
Deployed a 100% new system, and didn't install anything until I fully updated it, and works fine now. 🤷‍♂️
