I wish I had something that large. You need IOPs or are you more interested in other things?
j
@Leee Jeffries IO is one thing, but its more when talking to storage teams and they want more detail around latency and all the usual storage style questions if that makes sense
k
@Dave Brett might be able to help?
l
I remember Jim telling me that low latency is key. Less than 5ms if I'm not mistaken. Makes sense absolutely.

I can help out Kindo - drop me a DM

less than 5 is ideal for virtual desktops and RDSH-like VMs @Leee Jeffries, higher than 15ms and you’ll have shouting users at your desk. I can imagine that writes/reads going into a profile container would fall under the same ruleset.

so i believe a container mount can handle nice anything sub 3ms from a network perspective - but its all the IO profiling within the container that becomes a mystery at scale
l
My testing was only with O365 and outlook caching. Perhaps I need to revisit. It keep cropping up a fair amount.
j
dunno if you have seen your numbers vs Microsoft numbers - but there is a whoppingly scary difference
l
Yeah, I did see that indeed. More of a reason for a revisit. I have NVME in the lab so should have alot of IOPs to spare. I'll start mapping it out.

I can get some decent metrics out of the Files Cluster we have here and send them over if you need them
d
Hi Dave, can I ping you re IOPS on FS?
