Me too 🙂
@Aaron Parker has made all the work for us, no need to reinvent the wheel 😉

Which link is that?
c
It slows down the login even with fslogix?
k
I guess it will slow down the login, if there are many files to delete?
e
Sure @Cory Zaner a redirections.xml will slow down a bit, but without logons will be slower & slower over time (customer reported). Will re-enable the xml, which was removed due to Outlook index issues. Was resolved today, RoamSearh dword = 2 needs to be set on Master Image, due to GPO / Service startup delay issuses.
r
I think he was asking if its slowing down fslogix profile as well or maybe misread it lol
c
Why even use the redirection xml? Is the profile taking too much space? I just keep everything
r
When I first implement fslogix. I didn't use exclusions. But i seen the profile growing big time. Which space isn't a issue. But i figured why not exclude the junk. I never seen it slow down logins though. Even at 30gb profiles. But every environment is different. I would say use the exclusions now, for profile management best practices. But each is own.

The only reason to use a redirections xml is to maintain a level of cleanliness and try and keep space utilised to a minimum. Be it a 2Gb or 25Gb profile, there should be zero impact to logon times - a container mount is a container mount

We use the XML file for a few folders, some out of necessity. I'm 100% going to be using it for trash apps like Teams to keep the unnecessary bloat down.
k
Google Chrome and the coming new Edge are also likely candidates for the "trash app" label 🙂
n
Yep, I've already got the new XML file lined up for that trash app, too.
k
😄

Just waiting for us to complete the 1912 upgrade first.
I do like Chrome, but man does it suck from the teet of available resources like no other.
k
Yeah, and my guess is that the new Edge isn't much better
From what I can see on my Windows 10 machine the new Edge does like memory a lot 😄
n
FWIW, I was using this sample as a template for my Chrome testing (just the Chrome lines), which seemed to work well: https://www.sul.de/2019/04/05/fslogix-in-a-citrix-provisioning-environment/
k
I think I have come across the article at some point, but it may be worth a revisit as I have an upgrade at a customer which have a lot of Google Chrome users
n
Man, that's some awful formatting.
k
It really is :D
n
Teams redirection
There we go.
k
Wow...nice feature
Did you use the "code block" feature?
n
Nope, just uploaded the XML file. The code block was the garbled mess you saw before I deleted it, lol.
k
oh..good to know
