lol, WTF? "If you don't configure this policy, startup boost may initially be off or on. The user can configure its behavior in edge://settings/system."
I have the latest Edge Chromium running in my W10 image, but don't see Startup Boost in the System settings.
And I have no GPO set for that.

I talked about this issue a few days ago as well: https://worldofeuc.slack.com/archives/CK6TCV3JN/p1616141161085700

Between Edge 87 and 89, something definitely changed with performance. It now uses considerably more RAM than the same build of Chrome in my testing.

Great another hog
n
You'll be happy to know that Sleeping Tabs doesn't seem to help the RAM situation at all, too...
j
I'm staying with Chrome. I understand Chrome
d
@Nick Panaccio you might not see the startup boost because of hardware limitations / running it as VDI / VM.
n
That would make sense. I did disable the policy just to be safe.
The latest Edge Chromium 89 is better than 87 for resources. I think it was Kasper who I shared a screenshot with recently where Edge was consuming something like double the RAM with the same tabs open. Edge is eating about 50MB more than Chrome right now, both the latest 89 builds.
d
we will disable it together with the roll-out once we finish this sprint so it will never get active as it would else break Ivanti process stop actions and some Avanite Webdata Control functions
