NewRelic is primarily known as a strong APM solution whereas ControlUp is probably associated with EUC/Citrix (similar to Goliath)... I'd assume NewRelic interest would show some need to do APM ... eG do both EUC and APM so we have some pages on NewRelic https://www.eginnovations.com/compare-java-apm/new-relic-alternatives and https://www.eginnovations.com/blog/evolving-needs-of-apm/ might give an idea.... it would initially seem a odd to choose NewRelic if the only thing monitored was Citrix Infrastructure which suggests to me someone has identified a need for "converged application and infrastructure" monitoring and analysis. The kind of territory where you see folks using AppDynamics with Netscaler plugins if they are APM primarily.... @Barry Schiffer knows the EUC+APM area better than me though - but sounds like there might be a difference of view on what is the primary monitoring need. Be interesting to hear the outcome!
Another afterthought NewRelic or eG often considered in environments where folks looking for Kubernetes and Containers beyond Workspaces in EUC ... maybe the boss has thoughts towards these?
This has a useful overview of key technologies in the space NewRelic play in which might help the conversation https://apmtribe.com/top-10-application-performance-monitoring-tools-in-market/
