Regarding MySQL backups: One way to have HA is to mirror the instance to another server. My question is this: If you temporarily break the mirror and thereby shut down the DB on the non-live node, back it up while quiesed, and then brng it back on-line and resync it to the active DB, will that work? Or is there a better way to back up a mirrored MySQL server? I guess another option is to lock the DB, but then you cannot have any writes going on. Not sure there's anything available that is similar to Oracle's RMON, is there?
