Yes and they only have 3 minutes to log on or it fails and shows as an "other" connection failure in director
m
oh really? I’m seeing logons of 50 minutes at a client site and they have them, was wondering if that might be it
guess it’s something else
r
wow thats something i have never seen.
i saw a problem once with wem not mapping a share take 25 minutes
m
it’s insane, I have a logon that says it took 3000 seconds
the next highest one is 1800
it’s all interactive session
I can’t figure out how to drill down into it, Director doesn’t show anything useful.
r
there really is not good way to figure out interactive session besides using procmon
n
Sounds like it's time for that Analyze Logon Duration script. The latest edits by @Trentent are terrific.
m
they have stratusphere in the environemnt but I can’t figure out how to get the data out of it
oh, they must not have process tracking turned on…
r
Yea stratusphere has so MUCH data and you will get lost fast
I do anyways
m
it’s nowhere near as intuitive as controlup, it’s so easy to get lost
Director shows me it’s happening in the userinit sub phase
so maybe drive mappings?
I guess they do have process tracking enabled then
r
What version of Director do they have? It will show you GPO, Login Scripts with 1912 and up I believe
I would think Drive mapping would be in the GPO, unless they do login scripts and run it inside the AD profile side. Where you could say run this script for the user
m
it’s citrix cloud, but the VDAs I’m not sure
the mixed version number scheme drives me insane
7.24.1000.32… is that 1912 ltsr?
r
Ok, nothing here then?
Yes, I believe that is 1912.1000
I remember see something like this and @Guy Leech has a script to capture what is going on in the userint. Let me see if I can find it.
What does autoruns show you that is starting up for the user as well?
https://guyrleech.wordpress.com/2018/10/15/guide-to-my-github-scripts/ Number 10 "called Profile.ps1" I believe it will give you a bit more information in the unserinit
I can't really remember now if that was it or not.
I think its this one 18. Check and start processes.ps1
I can try to help you in Stpshere get the information if you want a quick reference check
j
@Rob Zylowski fat chance that was wem, it’s built to not allow that to happen and it's processing isn't captured in any logon analysis :-) more likely GPP nastiness on failed drive mappings or a dodgy logon script
r
Ahh yea, I remember you had something like this a while back. I think you stated it was WEM agent. Which I remember you talking to Guy about 2 of his scripts
j
I've seen some chaos delays in wem processing when it's overloaded with AD groups, control up captures that processing but director ignores - anyhoo, thread hijack completed - merry Christmas

Director… pfft. Doesn't provide enough insight. Use Guy/Trentent’s ALD script for much better detail, and is a piece of cake to setup (no ControlUp required).
r
@James Kindon was a bug. Wem didnt timeout.

I have no rights into this environment so I’m pretty limited in what I can do. Can’t even get rsop data to look at what GPOs are applying…
I have a read only account in citrix cloud and access to stratusphere. WMI is going to blocked so those scripts probably won’t work
I managed to get the breakdown in stratusphere but there’s nothing going on for like 300 seconds, it’s like it’s just waiting for the published app to launch or something
g
For Citrix you can get some info via WMI/CIM, look in the ControlUp Analyze Logon Duration script for Citrix_Client/Citrix_Client_Enum as it can tell you when the connection started so you can deduce how long it took to click https://www.controlup.com/script-library-posts/analyze-logon-duration/
j
Drive mappings
r
@Mike Streetz (O_P) Read only account makes it difficult for sure
m
so these servers only have 2vcpu and 4gb of ram and have sometimes 16 people on them, it might really actually be taking that long for the app to launch
😮 1
n
16 people? lol
m
I say this all the time but if they were doing it right I wouldn’t be in there looking
I saw an app server in here with 96 concurrent sessions
j
Didn't Brian Madden have servers with ten thousand sessions on them
m
I never saw that
that’s impressive though, you think you’d run out of ports
n
I'd be interested in seeing his findings with that. Even with just publishing Notepad, that's impressive.
m
this is on PVS too, the disk latency is massive with that many people on, 50ms
