prices up, quality down.

Time will tell.
t
100 percent they will expand the micro charging like most IT companies these days.
m
At least they don't have to answer to shareholders any more, like Elliott capital
Not that it stopped them buying wrike…
t
They may well discontinue and/or spin off some products. With equity companies, it's all about making the company as profitable as possible, no holds barred. We all know how that plays out.
m
Most of those stories go the other way though, the company goes public, gets taken over, takes on a ton of debt that makes certain people very wealthy and sends stockholders broke and the company collapses.
See toys r us, Sears, Kmart etc
Going private worked well for Dell.

They even have the same reasons, activist investors only after short term gains were hurting the long term vision of the company. That's exactly what we were seeing with Elliott. With them out of the picture hopefully we can go back to focusing on the core product instead of crazy acquisitions and rounds of layoffs
t
No telling in detail what the new investors have in mind, yet. Sounds like combining with the TIBCO product is the first order of business.
d
Elliot are one of the new owners
m
It read like Elliott set up the deal with Vista so they could cash out
d
Elliot's whole thing the last few years has been around they want more say on what the company is doing, so I think it's interesting to see them put their money where their mouth is.

Fun times are coming for Citrix /s
p
From what i read Elliot invested in Citrix in 2015 and got on the board. Elliot exited in 2019, after "turning the company around into a subscription based model" Seems things went downhill from there - Wrike anyone? - and now Elliot are back in. We'll just have to see how it plays out.
j
the other option is "parting out the car" and selling the bits to intrested buyers. netscaler to cisco, Citrix apps/desktop to google
then you just change the name to GUCG
j
only thing with doing anything with netscaler is the gateway functionality...
csg making a comeback lol
m
CSG was what got me into load balancing as we put it behind a big ip, lol
I did the F5 training before I ever touched a netscaler
j
gateway functionality is the most important piece in my opinion. most of remaining functionality can be done with other solutions.
w
Wrike? Do you think that was a bit of a foreshadowing moment. It never made since why Citrix bought them but now merged with little TIBCO it does
d
Wrike was purchased from Vista Equity Partners.... who are now buying Citrix 🙄
