One of the other Citrix admins here sees a similar error in OneDrive on our W10 VDA (1912 CU3, latest OD x64, Trend Micro and Defender images):
Only ever happens on the first file, and opens if he retries. I have never been able to reproduce it myself.
k
A colleague of mine saw it at a customer once. He found out that the OneDrive Sync agent had auto updated, even though it is a machine-wide install. He configured the auto update to "Deferred" via AD GPO, apparently that solved the issue.

That's definitely not the case here. I confirmed that the OneDrive agent on that VM was the same one from my master image.

Out of curiosity, where is he even setting that deferred policy? I see nothing about OneDrive and updating in my GPO.
k
Let me check
n
Unless he means the sync client update ring, actually. Which we have set to 'Enterprise'.
k
That's probably it
let me just check
Yeah, it is the "set the sync app update ring"
But, as you can see I don't have the Enterprise option
n
You must have newer adml files than I do.
That verbiage is the same as mine, only Deferred replaced Enterprise
k
Maybe
n
The official docs say Deferred, so it makes sense. I know I haven't updated the Windows admx stuff recently, just Edge.

If I had access to update the domain store, sure. I have to ask one of the domain admins to do it for me. 😄
k
Show the other admin that script 😄
c
@Deyda @Dennis have you seen this issues in your customer environments?
d
Yes with OneDrive x64 client, I see this error. With x86 client the error are gone.
c
Tried this also - didnt fix the issue
d
Hmmmmmm azure ad Hybrid join 😅
n
My VDAs are Azure hybrid joined, too....
c
Are they already 😅
c
@Nick Panaccio I repaired the office installation. Now it seems that the problem fixed. Can you validate this?
n
This is happening in brand new images for me.
c
Also same problem with x86?
n
I'm not even sure if this particular admin tested this when we were on the x86 build. I know that he brought it to my attention after we moved to the x64 build.

Hello, I had the same issue with OneDrive files (powerpoint, excel) on a nonpersistent environemnt (Win10 20H2+FSLogix) and I solved removing: -> C:\users\current user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15or16\ ->OfficeFileCache and Web Service Cache.

c
@Ionut DRAGUSIN We will test this
n
Is that a one-time fix? Delete those folders, let everything cache again, and you're good?
i
I used a Logoff script to delete the cache folders all the time. Otherwise the problem come again.
c
Hmm you can use the redirect.xml to exclude this Folders
n
That's what I was thinking, Christian.
Just wondering how constantly deleting this affects the initial OneDrive launch at user logon. It's bad enough as it is.
i
@Nick Panaccio if I`m not wrong these folders (OfficeFileCache and Web Service Cache) are created only when you open files from OneDrive.
n
This issue was mentioned in another thread as well. Rolled back OneDrive to 21.230.1104.4 (Enterprise ring) and no longer see that error message.

With the latest release of FSLogix the OfficeFileCache is excluded from containers:
