Why would you use WEM with SetUserFTA? when it does it natively.

I knew that was coming. haha
Because WEM has a External Task feature that is like login scripts. I use it over the WEM feature.
WEM FTA in my past was hit and miss.

Not for me, I just hit the registry.
SetUserFTA is the best app out there when you don't have WEM, for sure

Perhaps I did something incorrect on the WEM FTA feature.

but with WEM it's not a hit and miss. It can be if your app are not set properly. Use the MS Edge group policy template to not become the default app.
No I don't think you did it wrong, but GPO would reapply every 90 minutes
so you have to make sure, via GPO, that your Chrome or Edge browser has the policy defined to not set them as default browsers

I found that if I used the external task to set it, it worked everytime. For me it was around PDF with different PDF editors.

WEM FTA is working perfectly, but look at other environmental things happening, if your GPO refresh cycle brings in other stuff, then for sure it's not working

WEM FTA definition is doing the exact same thing as SetUserFTA, which I have used so many times on so many different environment, I even created a GUI for SetUserFTA.
I can assure you that WEM is doing the exact same job and it works well.

maybe not, you did it right, but the issue is GPOs reapplying and removing stuff that WEM does

I also had the case of using SetUserFTA and someone set a computer default app association in XML, at the computer level, reapplying every 90 minutes, and breaking the SetUserFTA

WEM FTA did not work for a long time. @kolbicz tool was a godsend. WEM now works properly which is good

Doesn't Ivanti UWM have the capability to set FTAs?

@kolbicz's tool is awesome. I wouldn't do it any other way. Very clever to reverse engineer what Microsoft does and build a tool.
