Our Microsoft team has told us that the IE 11 disablement will be included in June's cumulative.
a
awesome thats what i was hoping . makes it easier for us to let it happen for anyone resisting here. now its a security concern
looks like removing the IE feature breaks Edge's IE mode so hopefully the disable policy does something different

You can also do this if you want to be a little more aggressive
Copy code
dism /online /Remove-Capability /CapabilityName:Browser.InternetExplorer~~~~0.0.11.0 /norestart
dism /online /Disable-Feature /FeatureName:Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64 /norestart
a
i believe that will flat our remove the IE feature right?

yes

cool ya that works nice too but not if you want to use IE mode looks like. For those that need that sounds like you either implement the Disable IE policy via Group policy or wait for the June update like someone mentioned which leave IE there but you get the restricted pop up and then Edge launches. nice thing is it looks like it removes the custom shortcuts from the user once they try once too so should be good i think. thanks guys!

i'm giddy we can finally be rid of that browser. have to deal w/ IE mode still for the foreseable future w/ some homegrown sites unfortunately but its an improvement
