Did you ever download anything from a .ru URL?

Hell no.

I mean, it works on Windows 10/11, I have done this in the past, and on my current Windows 11 machine. I would have to assume it works?

@Nick Panaccio its a registry key, you can find it elsewhere online and verify in a clean environment. but i've used the settings personally and can confirm it works

Reg also still works with Windows Server 2022 as the Photo Viewer dll is still there on the system.
l
Yeah, it still works

It does indeed work, however, be aware that this windows photo viewer is deprecated. I've seen cases with a few customers where the photo viewer is not able to open certain types of images with specific color profiles. So if it turns out to be an issue i would consider installing another photo viewer

To be honest, this article I wrote is from 2017. It's a touch dated now. I've used JPEGView as an alternative is scenario where the colour profile becomes an issue.

ImageGlass is a good alternative. Users were not happy with the re-enabled photoviewer. They heavily used the feature "save a copy" and that no longer worked in WIN10 MultiSession. I guess Server 2019 would be the same.
