Am I the only one who can't seem to master Teams? I'm having (yet more) issues with Teams lately. We had it working OK on a Server 2022 image for a while but after September patches it seemed to break users randomly Mainly: Missing icons, not autostarting at login. GPOs to our knowledge are in place (and were working previously). Two of us have worked on this for a while now and we simply can't get Teams to auto-start now at login, or show an icon in the Start Menu. We've reinstalled, checked GPOs, even tried logging in locally as another admin user after install (local profile, no fslogix) - nada. The app doesn't seem to provision anymore. Anyone having the same issues?

new teams? do you install it via powershell with the bootloader?
What provisioning method? app layering, static instances, mcs, pvs?

Haven't had any complaints with my Teams updating and install scripts. Out here. github.com/jeffriechers/VDA_Updates_and_Sealing Big thing is to make sure that you have the proper policies, and slimcore on the endpoint. Those have been the biggest hurdles I have seeen.

Hi @jeremy.holt sorry I was going to include that - we are using Neverred. New Teams. No app layering, direclty installed into the image, MCS.
@Jeff Riechers we may try your scripts. At a different client I was unable to get Slimcore to work at all after days (probably weeks) of trying. Most of their endpoints there are thin clients so it's a moot point, so I abandoned Slimcore there and left it at HDX optimized. For this client they too are on thin clients (ThinOS), so no slimcore. As for policies - which policies do you recommend? There seem to be a lot of recommendations on this, and GPO policies are scattered about, nobody having a consistent story. We've tried them all - I think the ones we need are there because it WAS working just fine for several months. But I'm curious to hear what you or other experts who deal with this a lot recommend because it would be nice to check.
I really wish I understood too - what provisions the user icon in the start menu? This has been hit or miss and suddenly stops with no warning from time to time it sees, for random users. Even a profile reset doesn't seem to fix it sometimes.

If you are sticking with the webrtc for Linux, then just the Teams optimization citrix policy is fine. If you are using slimcore, you either need to turn off virtual channel blocking, or allow list the 3 teams slimcore channels from the citrix documentation. They are working on slimcore clients for linux, so get those on the endpoints asap. But I believe they are extending webrtc specifically for linux support.

So Slimcore is now a thing on non-Windows devices now? I haven't looked at Teams in a while, just getting back into it. Mainly the policies I'm wanting to comapre with others are all these ones in GPO. I've had to go in there and allow a lot of this kind of stuff, and allow Teams to run at startup - if it doesn't allow that it seems like the icon doesn't get provisioned etc.
Hey @Jeff Riechers we just looked at your script, it seems to have a few registry keys associated with Teams and that's it. How do you install it and do you have a list of GPOs and install requirements? I don't know why but I've only rarely gotten Teams to work and the then it gets squirrley. I know I've had to "Allow all trusted apps to install" etc (that was a big help) to get this to work but I've been feeling like we always just throw things at the wall.

learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-client-bulk-install#… download the bootstrapper here teamsbootstrapper.exe -p --installTMA follow this to help troubleshoot. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/…/fix-new-teams-installation-issues @Jeff Riechers's script were a lifesaver when this nonsense with new teams first started but the boostrapper and install is much better than it used to be

Under helper scripts there is a teams install script. It will install and update any OS, and it installs the outlook add-in in the right spots.

have an impacted user run this and if teams isn't showing up, something is blocking the appx package from registering at login likely: get-appxpackage msteams

Oh, my script is for non-persistent master images. It does machine wide installs. Are these persistent or non-persistent machines? It sounds like their profile is not storing the appx packages correctly.
