I am migrating users from W22 to W25. Users get a new UPM profile but keep their ODFC container used for EXO cache file. Pilot, and for a while all good but now it seems some users are seeing oddity like emails read are not read anymore, email moved to a folder back to inbox, etc. hard to get enough evidence from SD ... But it seems for most cases there is a correlation with the migration. Almost the same O365 version between W22 and W25, one minor version behind on W22, W25 up to date. So do you reset your ODFC when you migrate? Thanks!

I would definitely ditch the cache as part of migration, I would never replicate it anywhere tbf

I've not migrated between the OS', but since it's just the ODFC, I wouldn't even think about migrating it. But then again, I wouldn't take my word for it ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks. I don't migrate it, it remains in the same location, W25 points to the same container. User log off, next logon get the new W25 desktop, and it uses the same ODFC container.

Hmmm, you can always get oddities between OS versions, even in the profile container too. If users aren't desperately bothered, just wax it as part of the migration
d
Since you are using UPM for the profile, wouldn't that imply that all about the office profile, is written to ODFC? So old Marge with the pink bagground in Outlook, would lose that, of you reset ODFC
j
I wouldn't have thought so, I thought that crap was stored on the cloud end now anyways. I certainly get the same Outlook background when I log into the client no matter what the device

Then I'm way off ๐Ÿ™‚

I could be wrong, I'm rusty as hell these days. I guess the key word here would be - test ๐Ÿ˜‰

I usually work in an air-gabbed environment. So we are kinda in the same boat ๐Ÿ™‚

Not all conf is Cloud, some of it is stored in FSL, so yeah I guess I'm hitting some oddity here ... Very annoying, need to delete the container when users log off. Or maybe there is a key to recreate the next logon.. or I just reset the Outlook folders at logon, hm.

Put them in an AD group for migration and when they log off, trigger a delete of the ODFC container
I did something similar for Ivanti migration a long time ago to FSLogix, you can run a Scheduled Task that starts on event id 4647 (I think) which indicates user logging off
Or do it during logon and then write a flag to the Registry, loads of ways to do it

They are added to an AD group. Yes but to delete it, as it's mounted even at log off, it needs happen after it's detached, that's where I thought I had to do it outside the session. I'll test it, thanks! Point being is I need to delete it.
