Very interesting issue with CWA 2603 - VDI Session Launch Hangs at "Opening" After Upgrading to Citrix Workspace App 2603 https://support.citrix.com/external/article/CTX696638/vdi-session-launch-hangs-at-opening-afte.html

CTX696638 correctly identifies circular intermediate dependencies as the trigger, but framing this purely as endpoint misconfiguration understates a real robustness defect in CWA 2603’s pre-handshake validation. RFC 4158 (Certification Path Building) explicitly requires loop detection during path construction, yet CWA appears to spin until a ~5-minute wall-clock timeout instead of detecting the back-edge and failing fast. The result is a silent, unactionable hang with no clear error - particularly damaging for service providers and external/BYOD users whose certificate stores admins cannot inspect or remediate. Please add cycle detection with bounded path-building, a fast deterministic error with a clear “invalid endpoint certificate chain” message, and a policy-controlled option to retain the pre-2603 validation behavior. @Darius Shafie @Eltjo van Gulik

Yes it's a big deal and I lost a few hours to sort out my device even as the SME here. My corporate laptop has a security tool replacing the cert of my gateway breaking the cert chain. As a result I have the issue. On a personal laptop, it works fine. I understand why doing this but Citrix should provide a way to disable this new security feature to give time to enterprises to reconfigure their security tool. For now I had to install the LTSR version. Really annoying.

This is a very good reason why everyone should test the Technical Preview to “catch” such bugs before General Availability

I’m unable to locate this behavior change anywhere in the CWA 2603 documentation - it isn’t in the What’s New / feature list, Fixed Issues, or Known Issues, and the only “certificate validation” item in 2603 is the unrelated server-side validation for Browser Content Redirection. Could anyone point me to the official documentation describing the new client-side, pre-handshake certificate chain validation introduced in 2603? As it stands, this is effectively an undocumented change to the TLS validation path that can block session launches,…

I agree it's pretty bad to force a change without any notice or way to easily disable it.

Looks like the fix for this made it into today's .10 release

Moving forward, it would add great value to the support KB articles in the future to explicitly state that the vendor is already working on a fix for this bug.

I've even had trouble getting the jira ticket # from support when they tried to tell me I've stumbled upon known issues. Access to that stuff would be great for tracking release notes w/o guessing if that was the same issue or something similar.

I can see a lot of room for improvement in support, documentation, and cooperation - it’s a long topic to discuss.
