Hi all, Working in an environment that have WEM controlling the start menu for the users. Added OneDrive as an action to the start menu but it is not working as expected. On login the shortcut is NOT created if I however wait for the refresh or manually refresh actions the shortcut appear. Anyone seen this?
n
I've never seen that, but just for the hell of it, have you tried enabling Enforce processing of applications in the settings to see if that resolves it?
r
Just tried it but it didn't help, unfortunately. Lets go down the path of ditching WEM for the start menu and use Fslogix appmasking instead, that'll be fun adventure with existing users pinned apps and so on... 😂
n
Honestly, that's what I did at my last job. I hate using WEM to pin applications, and at my new place, some dingleberry thought to himself "let's pin everything using WEM!". So now we have one config set with nearly 100 pinned apps. FSLogix App Masking is top tier stuff and, unlike the profile solution, never seemed to be buggy.
r
I hate WEM for this as well! Stopped using it many years ago for this and as you went with app masking instead, much more reliable and robust. Unfortunately I was not a part of this setup when it was created...

After checking with Robert, the root cause is that no-persist machines contain the outdated cache.
It's better to keep the latest cache for the agent or turn off the cache if needed. thanks!

it is good to put the cache in a persistent location. If MCS created VM, there is a feature to support using Identify disk as the location.

The cache IS in a persistent location, the cache disk. I will have to investigate if the cache is not properly reset at boot - we use BIS-F. Thank you @Sharp Guo for your assistance.
We use this setting by the way.

@Anthony Shi about " there is a feature to support using Identify disk as the location" . can you tell us where this feature is, I've never seen anywhere that you can use the identity disc like that.
