Does anyone else have problems with the Maxmind GeoIP database after the last Netscaler firmware update (13.1.55.34)? There are always some errors displayed after the import. The same errors also occur with the Citrix_Netscaler_InBuilt_GeoIP_DB_IPv4 inbuild db. The country of the public IP addresses is no longer determined correctly.

Have you checked the file contents? I think the built-in database used different string for continents than the MaxMind one. I think I ran to an issue, where my policies had
europe.
something and the database had
eu.
something

The problem is that with the command “nsmap -d -t IP” the correct IP range is found in the database, but other information such as country or city is not displayed. In the Maxmind CSV file that I have imported on the Netscaler, the IP range I am looking for is available along with all the details. This problem did not exist before the firmware update.

but it's in the csv if you grep it?
or, I mean, the details are in the csv?
You've likely done this before, so you're using the conversion tool (https://github.com/netscaler/MaxMind-GeoIP-Database-Conversion-Citrix-ADC-Format)?
a
Yes, the details are contained in the CSV file. Yes exactly, I use this tool. Then I did the import on the Netscaler. “sh locationparameter” shows the correct file, but with some errors. I don't know how to find these errors and the IP geo mapping doesn't work anymore either. Very strange

hmmh... have you tried to reinstall the geodb?
I was just about to update the DB on another customer, but we're waiting for 13.1-56.x to drop. However, it worries me if the DB doesn't work as it's heavily used with their GSLB.
if you import the database and check the ns.log, would it reveal something?
a
Yes, I've already tried that. Also with a new version of Maxmind. I will check the nslog

no helpful error in the nslog. Only note: Import Successful xxx lines, 0 Warnings, 7 errors
I have found the error. It was my fault. I selected the wrong format when importing. Geoip-country instead of netscaler 🙄 Now the IP location is recognized correctly again with the latest Maxmind version. Thanks for your help!

Did you actually have to make a change after the upgrade?
a
No, no change was necessary

I tried a late version in one customer and post-change the results in dnschecker.org went bananas and I needed to rollback
