I wonder if this crowdstrike will finally make MS offer a true console access to azure VMs. (Instead of all the work arounds)
b
more likely they'll offer a path to migrate to Defender

Console would have been great, but a simple workaround is to make a snapshot, create a disk from the snapshot. fix that disk, then do an OS-disk-swap. Only takes like 5 minutes.

Problem is that Microsoft forgets that they are the issue I tend to not trust patches in the first place

It also 100000% reinforces the fact that there's no QA anymore
s
yeah, but there is other reasons for console acces. One example: The second one of my RDS servers go into work group mode (leaving the domain) in case i want to do something kills RPD which really limits my troubleshooting ability. I have come to building a VM just for HyperV so i can load azure vms into and get true console access

The lack of a console in Azure is killing us

for more than just this CS issue
r
sure, i'm not discounting that at all. Was just offering a suggestion for this specific issue. Console access would be HUGE for Azure.
m
Why need a console when you can buy an exspensive bastion service instead?

I never looked as bastion. Does that give us console or console like access at a fee?
r
no, it's not console.. it's basically a jump box, but cheaper than a jump box
well, they claim it's cheaper, i've not looked at it in depth
m
its apache guacamole but more expensive
