Userlayers. Sometimes "something" happens on logoff that causes the logoff to stall. At that point we kind of have to force shutdown the VM as the user cannot resolve it, and neither can we since the VM is "shutting down". Sometimes - the next logon then gets stuck for 10 minutes or more on "signing in" only to then time out the Citrix startup time and the session is dropped. Questions: Why does a login take 10+ minutes to process, and subsequently fail? What logs can explain it? How can we prevent it / allow the process to complete before Citrix a login timeout occurs and kills the attempt?

Have you done a feature upgrade before this by nay chance? The other thing that can take a while is recreating the search indexes. But that woudl be on logon not sure about the issue at logoff.
p
Not knowingly done any feature upgrades since we moved from 1809 LTSC to 21H2. had a user login direct to the VM via the Xenserver console and sitting here for the last 10 min.
r
id be curious if the cpu is busy
could be reindexing
p
looks busy.
r
sure does let me ask the engineers if there is a way to know if tis the search indexing
Paul did you recently upgrade to 24.3?
p
We're on 24.3.2.1021 and the server was rebooted 55 days ago - so i'd say we upgraded 55 days ago.
r
Engineering thinks you should upgrade to 24.3.5 I have not got an answer yet on what the bug is.
p
ok. meanwhile i'm 1h 38m in staring at the preparing windows screen. Is there anything that can be done to the VHD to resolve?
r
i dont know
p
Hey, it was worth a shot.
Does engineering state when that version will be public?
r
No i can get it to you if you want it. Ill ask when it will be released
p
i'd like to get access to a fix if there is one. Had an uptick in userlayer issues like this recently, and they be percolating higher up the org chain.
r
The issue has to do wiht the size of the registry. Will only happen when a user wiht a particularly large registry signs in.
Assuming its the same one
p
Still sitting at the login screen so i've no idea.
r
BTW he said no work around
p
Thanks Rob. Appreciate you jumping on.
r
So the answer on when it will be publicly available is complicated because the next version will be a different appliance os and we are not sure when that will be released. Could be 2408 or 2409 or eve later. But the patch i gave you is fully tested and supported so that may be a better choice anyway because you wont have to also go through rolling out a new appliance at the same time.
