Change in WEM agent 2401: When you set AlternateAgentCacheLocation (PVS/MCS), WEM agent 2401 creates a folder ‘WEM Local Databases’ with read only permissions and SYSTEM has full control in that location and drops cache files there. We use BISF and we have set BISF GPO to refresh & reinitialize cache on startup and redirect cache to D:\WEMCache. New agent version created subfolder and databases in that folder, BISF is still caching to WEMCache folder on startup. So we have two set of files. With newer versions, you may need to tweak BISF or any scripts you use.

Good suggestion! Will update the document if needed. thanks!

I wonder how that works for situations like ours where we install WEM in the default location in our Platform layer, and then simply change the registry value for the alternate location before finalizing the layer. I imagine that this process still works, but the perms aren't touched. We do this because our AL folks don't attach a second disk to the packaging VM to install WEM pointing the cache to the drive letter.

Files modified in the old cache location was matching the reboot time, that made me think BISF GPO creating it. Let me do further testing and update.

@Srinivasan Shanmugam please open a GitHub issue for that https://github.com/EUCweb/BIS-F

@Srinivasan Shanmugam can you share a screenshot?
Honestly I dont Redirect the WEM cache anymore based on how it’s improved so much. Curious why others still do this?

We improve the cache mechanism in the WEM product continuously. It is recommended to use the AgentCacheUtility.exe tool for the cache/setting operations. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/workspace-environment-management/service/get-started/install-and-configure#agent-cache-utility-options

Ok, I just rebooted a machine and it didn't update cache on the old location. It was still showing the old date, since WC is a persistent disk we may need to clear the old files from there. One unanswered question though - I installed 2401 agent on 3/4 and old cache files were refreshed on 3/7 which also matches last reboot time. Dont know cache was refreshed on 3/7.
