make sure your processing external tasks :)
s
yeah that is enabled
the tasks are set for logon, logoff, reconnect
c
any app masking of powershell executables or blocking of powershell executables with something like applocker ? presuming the external task is running a powershell script ?
s
no appmasking, yes powershell task. nothing in the logs, completely blank. the agent log says external tasks = true.
is there anything that tracks if something already ran once on the server?
c
yeah was going to say check the WEMagent log or the VUEMRSAV tool (Resultant set of polices) to see if its applying
i would of thought it would of appeared in the WEM agent log tbh
s
oh yeah forgot about that tool, let me see what it says. cloud modeling shows it but you never know
94441 AM Event -> RsltMainFrm1.ProcessExtTasks() : Starting External Tasks Retrieval... Then nothing after
c
What switches /arguments you got configured in the powershell external task ? Sure I had issues in past with regards to the ps execution policy and non interactive mode that I had to set to get the external task running a ps script to work
s
%windir%\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe Set-WinSystemLocale fr-CA; Set-WinHomeLocation -GeoId 0x27; Set-Culture fr-CA You'd think there would be a logged attempt to run the task even if it was incorrect.
c
i thought when running a PS .ps1 script with wem you have to use the -file argument for example c:\example\example.ps1
s
that didnt do anything
making some progress. It runs in a published desktop on the same server
so i had to set the task to run hidden - then it runs

It's weird. To run hidden only makes the script run in the background. It's better to set the WEM agent debug log and check the WEM agent log for more detailed information. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/workspace-environment-management/current-release/reference/view-log-files#logs-related-to-the-agent
Sometimes the run once option may cause the task skipped. you can turn off the run once option and try again. thanks!
