I'm having great success with Windows Server 2016 Core in my lab, replacing DC (AD/DNS/DHCP/FS) and SQL. Great for labs with only 32GB

yep use core for a lot of stuff

how many cores / how much ram do you allocate for core DC with this basic roles? 2 cores / 1 GB?

depending on environment can do 1 core/1gb

just watch and adjust accordingly

I just set it to 1 vCPU & 1 GB this morning.

Default disk of 32GB, but it's Thin anyway

All the rest of the VM's uses 2 vCPU / 2GB

For SQL I guess is stick with 2 vCPU & 2GB

And XADC is 3GB

These PC Nation guys are full of crap. Yesterday, I ordered 2 with Fedex Next Day. They then send an email saying I need to verify the transaction. This morning I call Cust Svc, they say I need to speak with Verification Dept. , they just so happen to be busy & will call me back. Ryan calls me back, tries to upsell me. He then says this is a special order & SM only build this on a limited basis, so it will take 10-14 business days. I tell him that's not what the website says. Now he's going to check with SM & his website guy and then get back to me.
