I should have asked here first... EdgeMax or Unifi Security Gateway?

EdgeMax is more your standard router vs Unifi is software defined. Unifi requires you setup a cloud key which controls and provisions your entire network. With Unifi I can plug in a switch or router and the cloud key provisions it automatically right from my phone app or web page.

If you are doing other UniFi I would do USG for single management pane.

Same as @Jarian Gibson - I have had both and prefer the USG.

I’ve had both as well. Started with EdgeMax and tough switch long time ago with UniFi WiFi. Have since switched over the years to UniFi.

@User Here’s my old writeup. Since then have much more gear and a full setup at another location. It’s solid but some USG Pro firmware can cause the Pro to reboot in my experience. Like when you’re really taxing the network. Think it might be something related to memory. https://www.jasonsamuel.com/2017/01/30/building-a-secure-high-visibility-wifi-network-using-ubiquiti-networks-unifi-gear/

Hey everyone.... wow feel like I haven’t been on in soo long ... chasing back up to a request I had earlier this year. I need a complete bom shopping list for the latest version of the e300-8d setup as I just got my P4 finally after 3 months of waiting from Nvidia and I am going to build an F1 racing rig for the citrix SYDNEY ebc off it using the workspace hub as the client So I need the bom for that mini server, case, fans, memory, ssd, etc etc and if you’ve got an amazon link or super micro link all the better as I need pricing too

That would be a straight forward build. The e300 comes pretty much complete. Just drop in RAM and an NVME and your done.

You only need to make sure to select an E300 with a x16 slot instead of x8. For example: SYS-E300-9D-8CN8TP
