Do I have to get that key thing? Or be running a 24x7 Unifi GW? or once it's set up do I just let it go?

dont need the key unless you want to manage it from the cloud

you don't need the GW if you just want to deploy an AP or two (i don't think)

Key is just management embedded. Cloud access is an option. The name cloud key is misleading.

You can run wifi w/o management. I have used unifi wifi with edgerouter

1365-G5 for robo could make sense, include AFS in the mix and you've got something rock solid. You could start with robo and move up to the DC

I did a lot of research last night and looks like the most affordable 10Gb switch is the UBNT. I couldn't find a 16 port - 10GbRJ45 under $1300, I can buy the UBNT 16-port SFP+ for $600, twinax cables under $50 and the SM e300-8D comes with 2 SFP+ ports. Also the PCI cards are a lot cheaper on SFP+ format than RJ45.

    I guess I'm going SFP+

Add more APs is automated by a wizard, 3 click and I'm done

I might have a 24 port SFP+ from Arista collecting dust somewhere

Heck.. I could even run a NTNX 1365 if my friend @Kees Baggerman sends me one for testing

@Kees Baggerman can you do 1365-G5 as single node?

I'm not talking about a very big workload here

1365 is a 3-node block.. so you can do single cluster

And you can do AHV for all your virtualization needs, no need for VMware licenses

I'd need 4 ROBO implementations. Nutanix is very appealing but costly for this workload

I may just get some cheap SM hardware and put hyper v on or even load windows without virtualization
