hey Team how do you asses the promotions in a startup culture where things are very dynamic, and most of the time it is about the work you have done not the educational degrees. and how to link the rankings and ratings with the promotions as it will just play a guiding light.

Hey @Riya Saini - My follow-up question would be "What is your team size today?" Creating an org structure based on the team size today (..and forecasted) should be the first according to me, in order to start planning towards the promotions. Saying so because if it is a very small team, the evolution of titles might not make much of a difference and you might have to pick alternatives of promotion.

Hey Shivani, it is about 350 people's team and got that right, some teams are so small that designation might not make sense, some teams have the scope of designational hierarchy, so wanted to understand what parameters would u suggest for small team , Since ratings can play a criteria for eligibility - but there is another aspect of readiness for the next level

I can share this example of a publicly available resource that we have created (..there is a much detailed and cleaner version internally). If each of the functions have one level draft of what being ready for each level looks like, that will help in making it simpler for you to take the decision and also for them to know what they need to do. This is also where KPIs play a role. For e.g. If I have a Business Development Rep today and I say they are displaying the qualities that an AE in my team does, I should be able to mention those qualities to make it a fair decision. You might also want to already start planning for this person's upskilling and not wait until the point they get a certain rating. Another e.g. If there is someone on my team who has been doing good, qualifies parameters like experience range as well, you might want to start adding any trainings/workshops, etc. into their development planning. I can share more with you to help understand this better if you might wish to connect directly some time. Texts may/may-not do justice 🙂
