Thanks for the q, @Mohit Jandwani
Think of what exactly happens in an offsite that helps build camaraderie. They get to spend time with each other, find out more about each other - their work, what they like/dislike, who they are as a person; and eventually they get the feeling that they are all pulling in the same direction and how they can help each other in the larger mission. The offsite will be like a glucose spike in the body 🙂 you need it when you need an immediate spike in the energy. But in the long run, you want to keep feeding the body foods that will keep the right energy levels throughout.
You’ll have to design activities, interventions, events, programs that deliver on these objectives -
1. Make clear to everyone what the company’s purpose is and how what they do fits into the jigsaw puzzle
2. Help understand who their co-workers are, at a human level
3. Enable and encourage channels that allow for connections
There will be many tactics like getting them together to open up, share about what they do with other teams, online hackathons, an email from the CEO’s desk that includes anecdotes about employees’ behavior that you want to encourage, quizzes, book summary sessions, interviews etc. These are not new. What will be important is how these are designed with the end objective in mind.
